eBay tat volume 3.

This was just a photo tacked on the end of an ad for another car, with the

comment "I'll put this up for sale if there is any interest". If it is as

solid as it seems to be there might just be some.

Sure if you've dig a bugatti out a barn and you want to preserve it's barn find status for the auction block then leave it be. If however you dig a manky mk1 Cavalier out of an old shed in Norfolk give it the once over with the jet wash before sticking it on plumtree ffs.

I just rang the Pony seller and made an offer, which he's going to mull over and call me back about tomorrow. Its more than i like paying for rusty old cars but not enough for him to retire on. No doubt the bidding will go mental overnight and he'll decide to leave it on and that will be the end of it but we'll see. Must say, its a car i've wanted for years, its close by and i have some money to buy it. if i dont end up with it, it I think it means i am sort of giving up a bit on old cars cos if i dont buy that, i'm probably not going to buy anything, there are not many cars out there that get my juices flowing like a mk1 Pony. Does that make sense?

Mr B

That Pony is truly a magical thing. Hyundai sales in the UK started in January 1982 - the first dealer was Rod Blanchard Motors of Watnall, Nottingham.

Where's that one registered? Nottingham.

The business still exists as a service garage BTW, called RBM Service. Might have records of when they sold it.

This does mean there is a very, very good chance it's the oldest Hyundai in the UK, which makes it the oldest in Europe, and possibly the oldest surviving exported Korean car anywhere in the world.

Considering how many Korean cars are now sold globally, that makes it a mightily historic little car.

I'll declare an interest - I own the oldest Kia in the UK, and therefore the oldest surviving exported Kia. They'd make a nice pair, no?

No question - you have to buy that car!

No where else on the interweb would anyone write such a statement as  this.

It'd be good to see it saved but you're going to have to be keen as it looks pretty ropey. I reckon a pickup rear valance might work on that and my spares pickup has a useable one. I could probably help with some facelift front wings you could chop up to repair the ones on it. The inner wing tops look good which is promising.
