eBay tat volume 3.

That Consul is lovely, but a couple of things about the ad sound doubtful. Could you buy a Consul on cross plys ?

After all the grief Ford had with early MklV Zephyrs , it seems unlikely they'd risk the Consul/Granada's reputation by not putting radials on all of them.

The other thing is the repeated references to Mark 4 Consul , WTF are they talking about ? OK there was a Mk1 & Mk2 Consul and then there was a Zephyr 4 instead in the Mk3 &4 ranges. If you include the Consul Classic,Capri and Cortina that would make the 1972 Consul the 6th car to bear the name. Totally irrelevant as no one in the history of ever has referred to the Consul as anything other than 'The mk1 Ganada shape' or 'The Sweeney type' or even 'The V4'.

That sort of advert puts me off. Too much hot air. The car is a beauty, though.

Especially so since he paid something like £1700 for it originally.  I have the three beauty rings it once sported.

DA DOCTOR IZ IN DA HOUSE. Where the hell does he keep finding these cars?.

Car and Classic is his preferred avenue it seems:

This was up for £2795 which is an utter bargain, he's doubled his money already and he is my hero.

He has had some negative feedback though it seems, which I bet pissed him off for weeks.

The lady in that picture doesn't look very impressed with the Peugeot.  And bearing in mind she's living in basically a prefab garage with a lean to, her standards are probably quite low

What a peach!

My dad bought one of those from a dodgy yard on the Isle of Wight for £250. His came with a free hole in the boot and another in the passenger footwell. And it was red*

I loved it.

That CX is lovely, but shouldn't be in the 'Tat' thread.

I still haven't worked out if there's an alternative thread for actually good stuff found on eBay. Certainly I'd like to own half the things on here.

Tat is just a term for everything on eBay. One man's tat is another man's chod, or something. Anyway, it all goes in here and it'll just vary between awesome and terrible.

Only exception is massively overpriced stuff goes in the bargains thread, naturally.

That SaaB 99: it is a 1709cc (Ricardo / Triumph Dolomite engine). Do these very early ones have a freewheel? Was it an option or standard fit?

I had an M reg. white one,1854cc, with those same funky headrests. I always felt cheated to have no freewheel. A freewheel was a big part of SaaBness in the 70s.

This looks a bit of a bargain.

all functioning except the clock which goes very slowly.

It's a perception thing - only seems to occur when he's got the Mother-in-law as a passenger [/Les Dawson]
