I even remember the advert when Fiat released the Bravo/Brava. Bloody loved it. I remember seeing them as a kid wanting to have one when I was older. The 3 door still looks as good as it did to me all those years ago.

Anyway, the Brava was ace. It had the massive speedometer just like that one (base spec, yo! No tachometer for you!) and the cassette deck lid flips up on springs in a needlessly complex way, but it was ace fun anyway.

 

Oh I'd forgotten about that Brava / Bravo cassette deck.  The mechanism was nearly always the first thing that broke

 

Did Marea get the same, can't recall.

Who doesnt like a basic Mk1 Clio? Such a neat design, and quite rare now eh, specially in pre-facelift format. Who styled these?

 

Jean-François Venet at Renault design studio A

 

Granted, a commissioned Pininfarina design from 1986 obviously influenced it, but Giugiaro not credited.  Perhaps because patriotic and proud frenchmen.

 

M. Venet can also be blamed for 25, Twingo, Laguna, Vel Satis; amongst others.  RIP.
