Invacar MK12 - New owner Mrs 6Cyl

Cheque has come back with the application, with the blank registration plate 'highlighted'.

Next steps:

- Ask ICR if they do happen to hold info on this chassis number (or can write me a supporting letter)

- Ask Stuart Cyphus really really nicely if there is anything he can do to help

- Do the V55/5 'register a new vehicle' (used) form - which is basically what Wobbler would have done for the imported Dacia. But that would mean I need an MOT :-( :-(

The other zany idea - and this will take time - is to go through all the suggested xxx xxxF* registration numbers on the vehicle enquiry website (there are thousands) and see if we can find a record that way. But that's a serious manpower effort and last resort, maybe.

*WNO-F, WVX-F, WPU-F or WEV**-F

**corrected from original WVE.

When something like this happens in the Morris Minor world I understand there is a guy within the club that writes a supporting letter based on the data they hold associated to the chassis number. Fingers crossed Stuart may have some useful info on file and be able to help.

Still working here.

How many MOT checks have you done? Maybe they've blocked you

use vehicle enquiry rather than the MOT checker ;-)

I'm up to WNO36F FYI, lol (Fiat)

a few... (I started with WPU100F then 200 300 etc, then went with 150 250 etc, to see if I could find anything, and then part way through WNO-F i got blocked LOL, WPU700F is a MGB GT if anyones wondering LOL)

which is probably why iv been blocked for now :)

one thing thats going to make this extra difficult is a lot of villiers machines aren't on the online system etc (because they had not been active during the big space scare in the 1980s or whatever the reason inactive since the 1970s/early 80s cars dont show up on the system)

im hoping since your car was probably withdrawn in the 1980s or 1990s that it was active during then as such, is on the computer system

Indeed, as long as there is no certificate of destruction, then it should be conceivable to find it. E.g. like I've said before my parents old Mk2 escort is TFN148T - still on there, although all that's left is the Serck plates that hang in my shed...

If 99.95% of these are fraggmobiles.... How about a photo (all our yesteryears) and find a piccie of a plate.

Likely 'no longer held' but at least it WAS a real car..?

Posted

BTW might be worth checking if WVE-F is correct, because "VE" is not a Essex reg, which is where all these would of most likely been registered...

All you need to do is apply for a registration pack and fill it in. Send it off with a cheque and they will issue a age related plate and UK log book, you will need proof of age though

Don't I need an MOT for that though Matt? Proof of age is at least on the VIN plate.

Proof of age might be fun since it says 1967, but does not say what Month it is...

(although stuart recons its a Sept/oct 1967 car)

I think it could be WEV, not WVE? I’ll have a look on the old checker sites too.

EDIT - WNO 55F comes back as an ‘Invalid’ 49cc, registered August 1967, last taxed April 1978.

quite possibly, stuart typed WVE, but he has complained about his keyboard being wonky as well :)

(WEV is an Essex reg so that fits :) )

I recall much hilarity in the press when a BlooRocket was reg no. LOO 1P

Oxford.

.... any more on a OO one wonders? [block issue??]

I'm not sure, I had to get the maserati moted but that wasn't over 40years old. I'll look at my pack as I still have the info from it. Why don't you ring them, I phoned them about registering mine and they were helpful

I noticed WNO55F as well, bit weird that one, no Invacar was 49cc, and the regs around that where for Mopeds so I suspect its a Moped, but you never know :)

Thanks for checking, worth a go.

Shall I steal it?

Posted

I wouldn't do that, you could find they request it gets inspected and that could cause more issues as you don't know the reason why it was scrapped.

Don't forget, we're talking about paper records that may or may not have been computerised at various points down the last fifty years. Some of those records are bound to have been lost or incorrectly entered.

yeah, I'm kidding - I work as an auditor - it's not worth my future work prospects to have 'auditor caught ringing invacars' on my CV ;-)

The simple reason I put 'Invacar' rather than 'Invalid' down as the make, means the DVLA functionary may have gone no further with the enquiry...just doing their job.

Howmanyleft doesn't list the manufacturer invalid at all - suggesting either they do some data cleansing - or there just aren't any 'invalid' models left.
