Cool....don't forget I have a gold one if you ever need one up in the North West (Cheshire)

Was it just me, or did I notice a 305 estate in an ad recently? Seemed to be UK filmed, and not quite sure why they used an older car (possibly something to do with making the chap look like a hopeless loser, that’s usually the case).

I saw that - metallic maroon IIRC. No idea what the ad was for, I don't take any notice but my old car radar made me look up when the Pug appeared!

It was a Peugeot ad, wasn't it? The 305 was broken down by the side of the road and the driver of the new Peugeot waved and drove past for some reason if I remember rightly. I'm sure I heard there are rules about showing competitors' products in a negative light in adverts which mean if you're going to show something as old and outdated/rubbish you have to use one of your own company's products - that Ford ad with the old cars floating away a while back used modified old Fords, for example.

Isn't that situation more likely to happen in reverse, with the new Peugeot on fire?

This was for a Flash cleaner of some sort - not sure why an old Pug 305 was used though the bloke's character wasn't an obvious plonker or destitute.

Old cars are used for a very good reason. They are already outdated so the ad can be used again and again. Our first ad about five years ago still gets trotted out now and again. The Flora ad was set in the 1970s and 1980s which is why the cars were used. No idea who's the Lada is, the escort belongs to me now and that pic was from the ebay listing.

Any ideas on the car behind the Escort?

Well done, that was it! Maybe just a 305 enthusiast on the crew/production team going for a bit of exposure?...

How sure can you be on the UK filmed bit? I cant remember where I saw the thread, possibly on here with Fred Transit - somebody said that a lot of adverts are made in South Africa due to the good light etc? Maybe how they found the 305?..I could be spouting bollocks though..

Yep a lot of ads are filmed in SA and other (cheaper) areas, but I think the Flash one was filmed in the UK
