Wolseley 16/60 anyone?

Anyone for a finny farina?

This is going in our local general auction next saturday. Too much for me to get stuck into, looks a bit frilly/plod laden around the sills, but a supa supa cool old bit of kit, 'barn fresh' as they say. Off the road since 1993.

Would anyone here like details or assistance or whatnot? Be great for this to be saved, rather than the inevitable dulux pre-68 carnage...

Yeah, I'd like that if I had space/skills/funds etc. That said, I'd rather just shove it in a barn than see it raced to death. Haven't enough gone that way now?

Hmmm, our two resident tat rescuers torsten and wuvuum? or BMC fanatic seth! I've got some serious spending commitments coming up on my old zody which puts me out of the running unfortunately, but I could chip in a few quid if we all buy her collectively!.....

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I have only ever owned one! I've kinda decided I don't want another until mine is finished again too.

I have to admit that in the past I have raced many, many of these fine beasts but now I've confesed I would like to have one of these as a daily, where abouts is it Pog as it could well be of interest

I have one. Back of the seat, and that badge, have a proclivity to pop out. Straightforward enough car, even if the workshop manual differs in respect of some stuff. A little Pearsons service manual is also helpful. Its interior looks in good order and filler/touchup might get the exterior looking passable until time or funds allow a proper respray.

Uncle bought a green one new. A friend of his with a bit of drink taken decided to see how many red lights he could run with it. This ended with a collision. It was repaired, but the work was not done well. The car never seemed stable so was scrapped.Mine seems to have some drain on the battery, so I disconnect every night. I can't think what's causing it.

Well the Wolseley made £800 in the auction room today. Strong money as there is a really nice one on eBay for under £2000, hopefully it is safe from the moronic destruction of banger 'tards...?

Hopefully, I can't imagine anyone would spend that sort of money on a car just to paint it in dulux, and then destroy it just to be able to bask in glory amongst its twisted remains with back and neck injuries

Don't underestimate what some people will spend in bangers, including money on tuned engines or securing that rare bit of tin which to me defetes the whole point of banger racing to me.

I've just had a thought. Would most people on this site swerve to avoid everyone else on the dodgems or deliberately try to ram others?I'm in the swerve category. I don't like crashing. I don't think I'd like banger racing...

Had nearly one of those. The Aust 6 cyl version aka 24/80 and loved it. Never any trouble except the handbrake cable kept snapping .

It would depend on who was in the other car, on dodgems yes I always tried to avoid everyone else, however I did once deliberately run over my brother. (Well not completely over him, he sort of bounced off the bonnet - I thought he'd get out of my way and he, unwisely, thought I would stop.)
OMG why did you hit him with your car ?

Because we don't get on. It's ok though he didn't damage it, luckily for him it was the Mini, not the Land-Rover. I'm now a lot older and wiser and now go out of my way to avoid him, in all senses, as much as I possibly can.
Glad you never damaged the car

Have you tried Jeremy Kyle yet ?

£800 seems a bit much for a banger boy to spend on this car, when stripped out shells can be bought for £50-£100 scrap. It's not a particularly rare model, and although very nice, far too expensive IMHO.Would I deliberately ram other dodgems? Er, yes, and I think banger racing would be a fun sport as long as they don't destroy any rare tat!

I'm quite unique here as I sit in the pro camp, but good banger racers don't go looking for crashes and thats my gripe with the sport - too many are hot shots who think steaming into a stationary car is what its about or having mega pile ups. It should be a race of life expired cars, sure there is contact but to win you want to do your best to avoid contact in any form if possible. Its great fun, I did it once and it is a mad adrenaline rush I don't think you could equal. (Before anybody gets angry, I used an MOT expired Mk4 Escort with a rotten floor pan which wasnt worth repairing and all the spares that were useable went on eBay to keep others going) It also lasted two race meetings before it was bent beyond belief.
