I can't see any of these Mich, I presume it's because my work internet filter takes a dislike to Flickr. Any chance we can persuade you to the merits of Photobucket?

Well that's no good with mine either! Who else is there? Image Shack?, Photo Box? :?

That wire spoked P6 is a right hooker!!!! Lovely colour. Tobacco leaf??

What do we reckon guys?

I'll go with the X1/9 :)

Lincoln is simply top quality, tyre squeel in multi storey car park shite. Nice!

I usually have an intense hatred of wire wheels, but that P6 looks alright on them!

LOVE this SD1. Left-hand drive?

Posted

Left-hand drive?

Strangely it doesn't actually look that way! :?

It is LHD, first registered in 1984. Did they still make them then?

Posted

SD1's lasted until '86, though there are a few '87 (e-plate) Vitesse ones around, presumably because there was little else that could touch them for use as high-speed pursuit cars by the 5-0.

I believe the Met bought a batch of them when they were told it was going out of production and put them away to register later. There was a firm I used to go past on my way to school where one of the company cars was an E-reg 2300S. It stuck in my mind as unusual even then.

Yup, MetPlod stockpiled at least 50 twin-plenum Vitesses, so the rumours go. Thames Valley Plod did the same with the Omega as well, there's MV6s still in service on 05 plates so at least a year after they were removed from public sale. That E-plate 2300S sounds like it may have been stored in a compound for a while before registration, Mash. I was under the impression from one of those "1986 Motorfair" catalogues that only the 2.6 and Vitesse were left in production when the 800 was released in early '86.

Thanks for the SD1nfo!

There are more DSs than coffeeshops in Amsterdam...

I went out to buy some painkillers, came back to see this parked around the corner. Owner (in the green shirt) was very nice, bought it recently and came to show it to his parents.

1965 MPW S3 Continental, one of 10 built, this one for Rex Harrison as a prize when he won an Academy Award for My Fair Lady. What a car!

Posted

Definetley not shite!Like the DS - Did you get any pics of the Da/Volvo 66 in the background?

Posted

Yes, definitly not shite but so cool! I love most of this era of MPW cars.

Posted

What a beautiful machine. Was that the model, somewhat politically-incorrectly refered to as "Chinese Eye?"

Posted

Sorry, no pics of the 66... I think this was the Chinese Eye indeed, although in my memory the headlights were placed at an even bigger angle?

Somehow all the shite I see is out on the road, and the ones that are parked aren't really shite...

1993 Volante - low profile tyres are for poor people.

1970 Volvo 145 - as grey as the sky over Holland.

1973 (although the plates suggest it's much older) HY camper with a rare 'magpie' mascotte.

Some more! 1966 Amazon

1987 AMC Eagle

Posted Image

Posted Image

Future shite, this is someone's daily driver... I see it around a lot.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted

This one had a very open exhaust system I think, it was pretty loud and sounded fantastic.

Posted Image

Posted

I'd never have guessed those Eagle things kept going until '87, bizarre looking creation.

Posted

Except AMC Eagles are proper off-roaders.

I would love to try one out, but I reckon they'd make the worst British Leyland products appear well-engineered.

I expected some optimistic commercial, but that looks pretty impressive!
