I've never had it before! Alarm bells started to ring when she wouldn't take my answer of £300 as the value of the car, so I said a grand and she shut up... Then she asked about the security system! So I boasted about my unique PIN code touchpad* immobiliser and she asked if it was a factory fit...

I was tempted to say I drive a car created in 1996, and still fairly unchanged in 2002 but I couldn't be arsed

Possibly for the best you cant insure me, thanks Sandra from Bangladesh. Amy's still with them, their not too bad, but now we know, not shite friendly

My current insurer would not let me change the value of mine to a grand, they have set it to 3 grand... eh? Who the fecks going to buy my car for 3k? Tossers. Oh I have dashcam too is that going to lower my premium (like every other insurer) No sir, we dont do that.

Also, Sir - if you change your car online there is no Admin fee. Tries that whilst on phone, says no sorry can't insure you on this vehicle!!What'ss that all about???

Anyway, Saab insured for £69 quid a month, Goot job it's my favourite number or it would have been cancelled, renewal in Aug so not too much longer anyway.

Dont go with Pro-vi-dent.

Those back brakes look like they’ve been sticking a bit, possibly a seized caliper. Factor in a set of discs and pads as well on top of that.

Yep, the swerved bill keeps increasing

if he fancies collecting it by Thursday. Then immediately performing a near full front end suspension refresh... Would be grand for that!

Sounds like something I’d do. How much is it?

£194 and I'll leave the good battery on and fit the radio in and put the headlight bulbs back!

There's no full reason why it should be dangerous, there's no boots on many of the suspension components and the driveshaft gaitor isn't fitted at all so bye bye grease but it's all bolted back up. Terrifying knock.from the drivers side now mind. Happy to assist if you fancy it, it's still. Taxed and mot'd!

Ahh it’d need to be shadow money to be of interest with its needs. GLWTS though.

That's the problem isn't it! I'm not rich enough to say £50, I'm relying in the bridge money to pay bub before he comes over and kneecaps me

I’m just an a cheeky sod is all, no doubt it’d make a good in but Dave spoilt me with the £200 working Multipla. I do like to rescue stuff though.

I'm not au-fait in cutting a cat off and taking it wherever to get weighed in sadly, otherwise I'd give it a try. Easier to just drive the whole thing to asm and be done with it

Having a dashcam lowers your premium??

That needs to stop if the YouTube CAAAMMRUUUUHHHH types are anything to go by.

First thing he’ll be looking for will be the cat and the battery as he writes you a cheque out.

Depends - ASM is a breaker rather than a metals yard, in my experience a breaker won’t even look at the car as long as it drove in because there’s likely to be enough money in certain parts

Granted some of the bigger scrap money in these diesels will be for the cat so maybe they will be more meticulous

Scrapyards wouldn’t give you the steam off their piss normally. Could cut it off and if he quizzes you chuck it in the boot.

Don't be daft. You are a friend.

Friends who owe money and don't find it a problem are not friends.

Asm won't look at it, it'll be classed as end of life. But I wouldn't know what to do with a cat if I did cut it off, only have 2 Blunt junior hacksaws to my name and am working today so can't take an hour out to give it a go!

£194 is exactly what I need, cba to complicate it more! Plus its an instant payment which I can bounce straight out to bub.

The protracted collection has probably already started, although my bit won't come until after lunch

One very dead nissan/renault OE battery fitted to the 406

One very healthy Yuasa in my shed

I have no idea what's going on here, but if this is getting scrapped can you save the door speakers for me please? That'll be abother £20 for the pot or whatever

Can do!

Anyone else want any small, post-ey bits?

There is a rubber dust cover behind the handbrake handle on my 405. Mine is missing does yours have one?

The dust cover on a 406 is a hard plastic cover that slides under the lever and moves backwards and forwards with it... only rubber bit in the whole centre console is the rubber mat inside the drinks holders

Barrett - speakers removed! (need the plugs as well?) Didn't realize they were Harman/Becker ones, that's why they always sounded alright! PM me your address and I'll get them boxed up

I hadn’t thought of that yes it probably would. I will have a look for one as well

There's been a 53 plate 406 on the estate since before we moved here by Eva's school. I knocked on the door and told the lovely old guy who owns it to come and take any bits off mine he could want or need as long as it was drivable afterwards.

He came round just now and took the rear lights as his were cracked, declined my offer of helping him swap the tailgates over as his silver one has a massive dent in it, and gave eva a fiver, which was nice of him!

I also noted that his driveway is on a hill, and to stop the shit 406 handbrake allowing his car to enter his garage has a railway sleeper bolted to the floor for the rear wheels to rest on!

I tried to save more of it! His has the leather though and facelifted dash from mine so I suppose he was pretty limited in choice

And a fucking good car that only needed minor work scrapped... But, I'd be on day 3 of 4.30 till whenever trying. I'd probably have the drivers strut out now, after the 2nd lift to work and back...

Sad to see it go but looks like the zx will be a good car for you.
