rec me a pair of decent ramps pls

Eh up everyone - yonks ago I did actually buy some ramps from Hellfrauds. They were useless because my Focus's front valance was too low for the incline angle of them so I had to return them. I thought it would be. I even asked before I bought them because, well, why wouldn't you. Not sure sir. If there's a problem bring them back. All that crap.

Now, years later, I suddenly need some. These on ebay look great (ignore price) - but the seller fabricates them, and has currently sold out:

That's the kind of thing I was thinking of - but I can't seem to find anything like those. Anyone got any other suggestions please. Cheers.

I live in Rochdale. Tried to buy some of those for my son without success, for his Cobra.

Sold out as you say, they don't seem to get many and never answered my emails, or my phone calls.

Son got some made very similar in Chester where he lives, where are you?

Edit, think they were on ebay at £140?

I was going to make some, but its a lot of cutting and welding and my eldest is rolling in it compared to me and my youngest who would do all the graft.

Good question - all I can say is that I'd like to be able to roll under the car and be able to have a good dekko at stuff, maybe apply rust treatments, etc.

The second ones might be okay, but ideally I'd like something a little bit higher.

I'm in York, but do travel down to Stoke on a regular basis so could conceivably get to Chester.

I've got a set of the machine mart ones. Used the ramp extension at first but now I tend to jack up and stick the ramps underneath now. That way it doesn't matter about front height nor worry about shooting off the end of them.

Will ask my son if he has any details, it's a while ago.

Machine mart extensions look like the gap is too big for the wheel, and not hooked on very well, but the price is right.

I use bits of wood placed in front of the ramp.Think its bits of wooden joists.

eBay Cougar ramps with extenders, about £30 all in. Made in England as well. Will fit up to about a 205 section tyre on them.

I've seen people buy 4 then they act like a lift for the whole car

I’ve only really used mine for stuff like swapping manifolds, oil change and once a gearbox mount swap. Not as useful as you’d first think.

I’ve got a pair of lovely old ramps that were given to me by an elderly neighbor who’d given up driving, I always have problems with clearance when driving one of the family moderns onto them, I just put some wooden blocks in front of the ramps just to give a bit of extra lift.
