Without seeing the data plate under the hood no but it's been painted because the roof is satin green and the rest of the car gloss. That wasn't an option.

Great work.

How did you put the clear lacquer on? Just brush and then wet flat and polish?

I put just a little on at the back experimentally, straight out of an aerosol can. The rest of the roof of just flatting down the blue paint that was under the original clear coat and polishing it up. That's what you see above.

It'll take a bit more than a single George to buy the car.

Today's job, tidy up the mess I had made.

Better. I need to go through the receipts and stuff and get that tidied away.

Also adjusted the carburetor because the auto-choke was a bit aggressive for this climate.

Yeah, car prices here haven't really changed. You can get yourself a halfass finished project for moderate money but complete cars are still really expensive here.

Doesn't help that it takes 80p to buy $1 right now either.

Just heard back from the wiper motor guy. He's finished with the motor and is sending it back.

He said the case was bent, looked like it had been dropped so he found a NOS case and rebuilt the rest. That explains why it was getting hung up on the middle of the screen...

They look a bit savage. Are they just single speed?

When it rains in the South, it really fuckin’ rains.

No, they're infinitely adjustable. I just dialed it to maximum. Then to a complete stop (accidentally) then off, so they snapped back to their parked position, tucked against the bottom of the screen.

You are more right than you may think.

Even going that fast wouldn't be enough to keep the screen clear in some of the heavy rain we get here.

Also with the throttle closed the vacuum is pretty good; not so when going uphill perhaps.

No, but they don't stop completely. There's a vacuum pump on the top of the fuel pump that assists when manifold vacuum is at a minimum.

However, around here there are no hills so I think I'll be ok.
