I'm now attracting free sh1te cars...

Only been on this forum 24 hours and now look what's happened....

Went to help a mate look a flat today and after seeing the Proton, the landlady offered me a free Morris Minor 4-door saloon. This has never happened to me, ever - must be Autoshite magnetism.

No idea of the year it was built. Apparently a friend said he'd get it running again, but never got around to looking at it. She can'r remember what was wrong with it at the time.

I'll definitely take a look - I'm just guessing that rust everywhere and anywhere is my main concern and will determine if it's worth having? The deal is I can only have it to get it on the road again not break for parts - she's a friend of a friend, so she'll know!!!

Not sure if this is more or less sh1te than my Proton...???? :blink2:

Less shite I suspect seeing as it actually has the potential for a following but I know for a fact there are some really knowledgeable people on here when it comes to Morris Minors that'll gladly give you a hand!

It'd be rude to say no and if it's too much work just roffle it here. Some idiot* will take it on.

Yes - my folks told me to accept presents gracefully. That idiot might be me...

Wow - I could be moving up to credibility then... Hmmmm....

Prime roffle territory, as Hooli says.

Lady Grumpius remarked the other day how much she would want a Morris Minor if we had the time/space/money.  Sadly neither of those three criteria are currently met...

Mate, you won Autoshite with your first post.

I'm in Kent and never find this kind of stuff!

I have no time or money, but my elderly parents have an empty driveway.... Perhaps I can drag it there and ponder....

When I was 18 I blagged my then gf's parent's let me use their drive to (badly) weld up a XR4i, therefore it sounds a sensible* plan to me.

That first sentence sounds like an autoshite epitaph! I have muttered those words many times and then complete overlooked them. I would certainly accept it, at the worse you can roffle it here or sell it as a project on ebay, they don't seem to have a problem selling.

FUCK YES!

A free Morris Minor?! Brilliant.

How are your welding and fabrication skills?

Damn. Why does this never happen to me?

I'm guessing you are normal and well-adjusted, so nobody troubles you with ridiculous offers of rusty cars... I appear gullible and overly sentimental...

Non existent, although locally there is an excellent old-school fabricator and welder (to MOT standards) who used to drive around in an A35 for many years. He may become my best friend, and I'll become his best customer...

Pics?

(and welcome in, btw)

Just awaiting the address and a time to view it. I'll pop the pics on here :-)

Bad news :-(  I drove to the house where the Minor was supposed to be - the driveway was empty. Apparently the friend of a friend who was fixing it locally has taken the Minor to Reading. She's given up any hope of retrieving it, so has transferred the car to him....

Ah well.. Although, apparently she has an A35 in a lock-up doing nothing but doesn't want to part with it at the moment.... Now THAT would interesting.
