155V6's very dull & boring collection thread

The MG has been suffering from leaking camshaft oil seals for a while now, they've been replaced twice but still keep leaking.Chances are the piston rings are worn & there's too much pressure at the top of the engine.

The Volvo is out of MOT,needs various things doing & is too thirsty to use all the time.

I needed something cheap to use for a bit,& thought what about a Ford Puma?

I started looking around, quite a few out there but some very tatty looking cars in my price range, most had been welded up a few times.

Then I saw this on eBay

Low mileage, advert says no rust & best of all, about a mile away from me.

Only problem is no MOT,a bit of a pain as I wanted something to use straight away.It had been tested last week though,& only failed on a couple of brake pipes & a flexi hose. There were some electrical issues on the test, but these were caused by a flat battery & had been sorted

I went round to have a look & was pleasantly surprised. No sign of any rot(checked the old MOTs online & no sign of any welding). It had 4 matching Goodyear tyres & had obviously been looked after.I reckoned for the price of the brake pipes being done,I'd have a pretty nice car.

Anyway, made an offer & picked it up tonight.

I walked round to get it,drove it straight to my tame mechanic,so no petrol station shot.I did see a MK 3 Cortina under a tarpaulin on the way to get it,but the owner was hanging about so no picture of that either.

The Puma drives really nicely,I thought it might feel a bit slow after the MG but seems to go really well. The aircon even works, although the tape player might have to go.

I'll get some more pictures when I get it back.

Double DIN radio in these (dash is shared with the contemporary Fiesta) so you'll most likely need an adapter plate to change it.

The unit in there is a Double Din,so hopefully I can just upgrade to a better version.

Looks nice. You should be able to find an upgrade stereo from a posh Focus or Mondeo of the era, plenty around and not hugely pricey, though the in-dash 6 CD changer variant is fragile and usually shagged.

Similar stereos in mk2 Galaxy as well, though the front panel is slightly squarer and won't fit.

Many pumas love. They are ace things.

Cor, that does look nice! These are definitely getting thin on the ground, with the only ones I've seen lately being thrashed track slags on trailers. Looks like someone's given this one a bit of love, at any rate.

Feeling a weird pang of a late-90s nostalgia vibe here - the shape of it bringing back linked memories of bacofoil coats, All Saints on the radio and those daft sunglasses that made you look like an insect...

Which probably means that it's time for the price of these to go stratospheric.

Well bought!

Good so far.Needs a good clean & a few odd trim bits but really happy with it.

So far,it's cost me a total of just over £550 which doesn't seem too bad considering it's not rusty,& has only done 60,000 miles  :-)

A couple of pictures now I've got it home.Just waiting for the DVLA site to update as it's not showing as MOT'd yet & I need to tax it  :?
