Looks great! That bit almost immediately below the door handle on the sill is a vertical seam where they commonly go. Mine looked awful but passed the mot with it, although the area has since been repaired. What shape is the soft top in?

Posted

The soft top is in good shape thankfully. Have poked that bit on the sill and it is sort of de laminating if that makes sense. Rusty outer bit over rusty inner bit. Although it doesn't look like it has ever been patched.

It’s the gayest baby blue colour . Nice aftermarket wheels with toyo tyres . Drives lovely . Predicably crusty underneath but I’d say she’s got one or two more years left in it . Abs light on ( nsf sensor) and mil on top but p0340 cat code ( good used cat will be supplied)

Good hood and dry inside.

That is indeed super gay. Which engine?

I had a mk1 1.8 in marine blue a few years ago. Never really gelled with it, not sure why.

AlfaFemale has a Mk3 MR2 and that is really good fun and a car Ithat brings back the joy of driving

I R tempt. Once I've sold the MGF I might be in touch.

Are there any patterns with rot on mk2s in as much as certain years being seemingly more prone to rot?

Posted

Not really, they all rust like mad.

The trouble with them is that they rot from the inside out, cars with a few blebs on the sills are often rotten as a pear within. Still fantastic fun though and at throwaway money there's not much risk involved.

Twosmoke, that's gorgeous! Just my sort of feminine colour. I don't even play the distance card, so I'm only left with money and space.

I have a hood cover that someone could have for free. Forgot to give it to the buyer. It could be off a mk1 or 2, I can't remember as I have had both but I assume they are the same?

P s. Good cars, there is nothing I can add that hasn't been said

Re the hood cover - check the press studs : mk1 has small ~3mm poppers, mk2 has bigger ~8mm poppers. The shape and size of the cover is the same for both models.

I think you will find it’s called fabulous, Darling :-)

I’m having a great summer in it . Came up at just the right time !

Unless you've had your hood replaced with one from a different mk.
