Mk1 Espace: Tell me about it

Renospeed seem to have a good reputation, so if they've done some recent tickling it's probably a good bet. So far as one of these can be anyway.

If you do buy it there's a good excuse for a roadtrip to France to accumulate some parts.

I reckon you’re around the sort of money where it’s very difficult to lose. Yes, breaking it up would be a shame but parts are sparse and a few choice items would probably see you square with the rest ‘spares/repairs’.

Have you talked money? I know he just reduced it, but Ben again he did that because it was obviously too much money.

Seller will be keen to sell. It's been for sale for ages.

As an aside a really nice (bleached paintwork) one has been listed near me on auction, with a start price of £899. Doubtful it will attract bids.

Had mine 9 years. Some parts are a problem, antiroll bar bushes are a notable example. Some special tools are a problem, front shock tool for example kept mine off the road for 6 months last year until we found the tool, but the car has been good and relatively reliable and is usedfor holidays, shows and light duties. Someone mentioned it is 20 front suspension but it’s 18, not 20...I own a 20 too and they are different. France or Holland generally sources most spares, and Paul in Worthing knows everyone to find the bits.

They are good old things but parts are getting a real problem. The 2.0 petrol or the 2.1 diesel are both good solid engines. The clutch can be very heavy and they used to snap pedals when they were current but I would expect it to of been modified by now. The interiors are fragile and the plastics break easily and avoid if the heater doesn't work as a new matrix is a dash out job and a bastard to fit in a right hand drive. One of my customers runs a couple of diesels and one has now died due to a leaking steering rack and it is impossible to find a new one. The other only just made it through an mot but it needs antiroll bar links that are no longer available. An 806 Peugeot is a much better machine but probably not on classic insurance

If your customer is having trouble sourcing a replacement rack give http://www.westernpowersteering.co.uk on Bristol a call.

I couldn't get a new rack for my 85' bluebird but they managed to rebuild my existing rack with new seals.

Might be worth a try!

There is an original 1986 one near me, been parked used as storeshed for three years or so. My testicles aren't big enough to knock the door and enquire about possible purchase, after reading the above they just shrunk a bit further.

If it’s been used as a store for 3 years “purchase” shouldn’t really involve much money!

Recommissioning might* thought!

806 is a far better bet as said.

If I was looking for a van-car they would be on the list

Shame earlyish Galaxies don't come under the classic insurance umbrella.

Just fit a tow bar to the Daf, fabricate a bike trailer and smile in a confident yet nonchalant manner whenever you see a copper.
