egg Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 reality check: MOT expired on 22/9/18. I think this advert might be a bit old....:-/
GrumpiusMaximus Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Then you can talk the price down, Egg m'boy!
egg Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 Too late. This means only 1 thing. Scrapped. Or, it's on a private plate I suppose...
GrumpiusMaximus Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Quick! To the emergency beige keyboard! Unless it's mostly rust, I can't see why that'd be scrapped.
egg Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 sorry folks, confirmed it was sold a long while back. Sorry, sorry etc.
egg Posted December 2, 2018 Author Posted December 2, 2018 Here Ford try and sell you one of these with funny headlights...
egg Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 I found it quite surreal sitting in a car showroom surrounded by modern Vauxhalls, but this morning the ignition switch was replaced with minimum stress and zero cost by Perry's in Canterbury. They found a couple of issues with the 'healthcheck' - total quote to replace £400 lololol. I said I would be taking it back to my man, as I thought the boots were fixed last time... edit: he said, is this an import? We've not seen one before !! Vantman, Lacquer Peel, RobT and 3 others 6
mrbenn Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 I assume that somewhere on that there sheet will be an entry that says "Awesome chod" with a nice big tick next to it. Lacquer Peel, egg, RobT and 3 others 6
oldcars Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 N734 FBV is now for sale! £495....in Blackpool....oh look I could have a two Mazda two Mondy fleet...lol https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/300724934004097 Just noticed those side repeaters are the same as on my Shuma. The font for the GLX is the same as the SX on the Shuma too. I knew there was Mazda stuff on it but seems to be more than i thought. egg 1
RobT Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 £400 for those two jobs? What a monumental piss take. Good result otherwise. egg, Schaefft, GrumpiusMaximus and 1 other 4
egg Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 £400 for those two jobs? What a monumental piss take. Good result otherwise. Indeed. Think of the all the little old ladies who say 'yes please, thank you young man' - they pay for my free coffee I suppose...
egg Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 One used OEM wheel trim arrived today. Not perfect, but better than the worst one on the car, and a useful spare. These are obviously unobtainium new. RobT, Lacquer Peel, GrumpiusMaximus and 3 others 6
oldcars Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I refurbed the kia ones. Some plastic primer and ford moondust silver and they look like new. mrbenn 1
egg Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 I refurbed the kia ones. Some plastic primer and ford moondust silver and they look like new. Yes, that's a good tip and my basic plan once warmer weather returns - but good to have a spare in the event of one falling off or cracking as 25 year old trims are prone to do! oldcars 1
Tenmil Socket Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 The new OEM exhaust shield screws have finally arrived (well Mazda MX-5 ones that are the same). I can now try hacking off the two remaining rusted ones as I can just swap them now.IMG_20180628_132154.jpgIMG_20180628_132203.jpgHow much?
egg Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 About £7 for the 4 from MX5parts.co.uk - 2 are on the car at least! Tenmil Socket 1
egg Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 I bought a 1994 Mazda 323 brochure from eBay. Lots of lifestyle junk! oldcars, MorrisItalSLX, Lacquer Peel and 4 others 7
egg Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 When did you last see a four door in this iteration either? MorrisItalSLX, RobT, jumpingjehovahs and 3 others 6
MorrisItalSLX Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 When did you last see a four door in this iteration either? IMG_20181217_150656~2.jpgYesterday! That being said, lots of old Japanese stuff just soldiers on here without rot killing them off. egg 1
egg Posted January 2, 2019 Author Posted January 2, 2019 Today I drove to Gravesend, and hired a ramp. This was really a trial run to see what the set-up was. £20 for an hour (more at weekends). I used the time firstly to have a go with some Vactan in ease and comfort...(this is just starting off) Yes, ok main stealer wasn't lying the CV boot is loose.. Yes, ok they're right, the ball joint cover has a tear... Is this the hole in my Cat or just the mount it passes through? All in all, would use again, some pros and cons which I will go through on the news thread at some point. Also used some bilt hamber wax on various places. oldcars, Dick Cheeseburger, mrbenn and 4 others 7

egg Posted January 2, 2019 Author Posted January 2, 2019 Looks very good under there overall! Yeah, the sill areas are perhaps the worst, slightly fiddly design I think. GrumpiusMaximus and mrbenn 2
mrbenn Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Perhaps one for a Krown treatment in the spring? GrumpiusMaximus and egg 2
GrumpiusMaximus Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 It's in Essex Road DD. Literally five minutes from where I grew up and lived for 20 years. Blimey. egg 1
sierraman Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Easy enough to fix the CV boot. I’d take the opportunity to repack it as well. Tip for you if you use the proper metal clips, crimp it with a pair of carpenters pincers if you haven’t the correct tool. Give the CV body a degrease as well so the boot will hold tight to it. mrbenn 1
dozeydustman Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Lived the for 37 of my 40 years on this planet and never knew there was a large garage like that to rent. Wrotham Rd end? Only bit I know where there's an accessway behind the houses GrumpiusMaximus 1
