Trigger's Stonking Spots - Loads of bits

I would love to drive that armoured thing through tescos. And park it in the freezer section......:twisted:

:oops::oops::oops:

Trigger, the FSM is a Polish-built 126, but the original, air-cooled sort and not the less well-liked water cooled hatchback thing that also came from the Polski-Fiat works.

You could drive that into the "Wange Wover Only" car park at Henley regatta and nobody could accuse you of taking the BIS.

(Fiat themselves admitted that the water cooled bis wasn't quite a major engineering success as they resumed production of the aircooled cars in the '90s and built them, in that original form, until 2001(?) I think).

Posted

Thanks John, I never knew that, So i take it the FSM is a bit rarer and sort after than the BIS as I've seen lots more of them about.

Posted

The aircool ones are also ripe for engine-rape by Fiat 500 owners, they are the Italian Metro*

*but less shit

AMAZING spots, the Princess and Rancho must be mega low-mileage, lovely condition. That Austin is a circa 1936 Austin 10 Cambridge. I also love the slightly scruffy but original looking pre-Farina Cambridge in the drive there - local car with the NO registration 8)

Posted

Cheers Dicky, The Rancho has 53000 miles and the Princess was either 63 or 83000 miles, couldn't quite see. That Cambridge was quite funny, I past it and turned around and drove along a unmade service road until i was outside the drive, I had to zoom in and just as i took the snap i saw the owner standing at the front door staring at me, I just waved and quickly drove off!

Hey, everyone ask Mk1 4Dr about what happened when he imposed his SKILL YO DRIVING style on a Fiat 126........I couldn't drive it very well, my feet kept hitting two pedals at once. Cool little thing though.

Posted

that rancho is the dogz 30ll0x... wasn't there something similar only with a hillman imp front on it?im sure i remember something like that from the late 60's early 70'sunless i dreamed it up :D

Posted

That would be the estate version of the Hillman Imp, called the Hillman Husky.

Posted Image

There was also a van version called the Commer Cob.

Lovely spots, ^my missus hates it when I spot something, Its usually either drive down the road until I can turn around and go back...wasting time.. or if there is nothing behind I'll just stop and reverse up the road...or it will be a gazzilion piont turn just to get a pic....drives her nuts.... BMWs looking good as well 8)

Excellent pics Trig. I've seen the Princess at the BMC day at Peterborough a few times I think. It really is nice.

This pic with the addition of your BMW in shot, is full of win 8)

And as regards FSM; What they all said ^^^^^^

I will add that the badge on that 126 will say '126 made by FSM' - the 'made by' in tiny letters.

Mrs SL is reasonably tolerant of it, in fact she'll occasionally take the photo for me. However I do sometimes get comments about how I find it easier to stop or turn back for an old car than I do a pottery or whatever else we've passed that appealed to her...Excellent spots Trigger!

Mrs Triggers is very good, she really doesn't mind me "shite car spotting", even to the point that she'll come home from work with photos shes taken of "crap cars"That photo with her in is a bad photo of her though, She told me not to post it as it make her look special!, She looks grumpy but it's just because she was stroking our dog in the back of the car.

Red thing looks like it may be a Ligier Ambra microcar, Trig. These sub-550kg things have a truly atrocious, vertical twin 550cc Diesel or petrol engine, both equally shitey. The cars are of the type that can be driven on a licence with bike entitlement if you passed class B before it became B1, or something....

Posted Image

Hmm, maybe not, in fact it's altogether bigger and more limousine-sized than the Ligier......

I still reckon it's some kind of sub-550kg micro though. Definite future-shite that they are.

That Rancho/Princess combo is just superb!

Yesterday i drove to Walton on Thames to pick up some magazines, As always i took my camera, I managed to pass lots of decent stuff like a Reliant Kitten with odd coloured doors and a 1977 Rover SD1 in brown both on the A12, plus lots on the M25 like a mint 1970's BMW 5-series but sadly all were on the other side of the carriageway so i couldn't get a photo.

But i did get these two from the journey.

This was the first Toyota Cressida i can remember seeing, It was being driven by a young chap in Ester i think it was, The reg was DCO 111T.

Posted Image

A couple of cool Triumph in a driveway in Walton, there was a J plate Fiat 500 a few doors down as well but i missed it.

Back to Ipswich and to this morning, This was in my local park, as was the Carlton.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Now this next lot i found by of chance by the Ipswich transport museum, I never seen them before even though they are less than a mile from my house.

All of them look like they have been of the road for a long while and are on SORN.

love the truimphs, pure autoshite class right there, the Aixam/Microcar/Ligier heap, hope you see less of them there than you do here, those banned or dont hold a license are allowed to drive them in france, some are seriously terrible, normally driven by giffers or pikeys, i love creaping up behind them whilst caining along at 50kph, dropp it afew gears then parrrrp on by

I have been making the most of the nice weather today and have been out for a drive in the car.

Started of at a local boot sale where i was followed in by this stunner.

Posted Image

Posted Image

THe owner was a nice chap, the Porsche was one of only 24 i think in RHD left in England, he drives all over the country in too and even been to Germany a few times as well, It was a insurance value of £60000 so perfect for car boot sales.

Mrs. Trigger went for a walk with our dog in the car park to go "shit car spotting", She made Alfie pose for this Volvo based spottage.

Posted Image

Alfie couldn't keep his eyes of this Laurel.

Posted Image

This 1957 Morris FD van is still used all the time, Its listed as only having 1 owner and it's been about for as long as i remember. I was hoping to get his brown X reg Metro as well.

These both belong to a garage in Clacton that run by mockney car dealers, The PT Cruisers been there a few years, seems quite young to end up like this.

Wow, some real good'uns there! FD van is brilliant :D I reckon the PT cruiser would fit in pretty well in an owners club line up.

'Proper care for proper cars'

Aye, thats certainly being cared for

Superb tat haul though Trig!

Not bad for a 2 hour drive! The Clacton area is a mecca for shite spotting.

Is that the latest OMGRATLOOK accessory... a pallet for a boot mounted luggage rack?

Posted

Excellent spot haul, what a fine selection. Ive not seen too many MKI Transit horseboxes still about.
