If you got it down to Long Beach there's a Wallenius Wilhelmsen vessel scheduled to leave January 17 arriving in Bristol on February 21st.  Or another leaving on January 23rd and arriving in Southampton on February 26th.  I know you've already got a shipper but, there are always options!

Hey Joloke and everyone, just out of curiosity what's roughly the cost from Cal to the UK.

I wonder if the Americans get sick of us lot over here plundering their country for its prime chod!?

I did hear (might well be a load of bollocks) that it's now getting to the point where some of the best examples of US cars are now no longer in the US and the Americans are actually buying them back and shipping them back to the states again.

Probably not the sort of cars us lot would own mind!

Well that's only fair.  Look how many old sports cars have come back here: Jags, Big Healeys, etc.  Cars the Americans love, and tbf were made for that market, with a token few built RHD for home.  Walk around a big Classic show and it's not difficult to find something that came from Longbridge via Los Angeles!

Hey Joloke and everyone, just out of curiosity what's roughly the cost from Cal to the UK.

In 2006 I imported two Series III 109's from the UK.  I had to pay for pick up and storage before they were shipped here and I didn't break those costs down, so I only have a total.  The Stage 1 V8 cost me $2,230.84 to pick up, store and, ship to Ventura CA.  Port fees were $100.00, Duty was $176.02, Customs Bond was $45.00 and the Customs fee was $250.00.

Bear in mind the LRs are fairly big old things

I think that's the case with most old cars - a lot of Brits come looking for old British cars and bikes here as a car/bike in the right climate will be much better than the same model from back home.

I think that the Japanese do a lot of that too.

I bet most of that flat black jetwashes straight off and was put on to tart up a previously lacquer peeled and sunburnt car, seems to be de rigeur over there.  Give it a go, see what you get, could get yourself some charm for the cost of a few hours with a jetwash.  If you're unlucky they've bothered to do the prep properly and you'll just end up with a clean flatblack car.

Rustoleum is pretty ace stuff on the whole but paler colours tend to fade and oxidise much faster than the darker ones, not sure why.  Brush on is tougher than spray on but takes a little more time to get a nice smooth finish.  All depends on the standard you're after.

Just a teensy bit jealous of your new purchase, it's my favourite Mustang shape.

Au contraire. They think we escaped from some asylum, because we pay Dahlahz for the shite they hate and laugh all the way to the Fed Res.

They really are that retarded.

Is that a P71?

That's my daily driver... 2002 Ford Crown Victoria P72 not P71 - runs on compressed natural gas so cheap and cheerful and allows me car pool lane access.

Is the cover you are getting for £150 actual Marine Insurance?

Shipping anything without this could render you liable for sharing the cost of salvaging the ship if something horrible goes wrong.

If the extra premium is simply an add-on for "accidental" then I would indeed question its value in your case.

How easy is it to get used parts shipped over

Always fancied using 1 of those kits to bolt a Mustang 5.0 running gear into a Focus

Now I'm surrounded by lhd Focuses (foci?) it's something in considering again..

No straps?

I believe straps have to be ordered from a different supplier ;)

So it begins! No going back now.

Looks good though even on the trailer.

I want to know how he got the driver's door closed after getting the car on the trailer! :-)

Great that it's on its way at last!

Bah! I'm calling you out on this; that's not America...Looks like Stevenage.
