danthecapriman Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Oh, like Huggy, you mean? If your using it it’s fine...I’d be worrying about it if it were mine! But you know me! Worrying unnecessarily over something stupid. Joloke 1
eddyramrod Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 That's just it, I'm not using him. He hasn't turned a wheel since October.
danthecapriman Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 That's just it, I'm not using him. He hasn't turned a wheel since October. It’ll be fine I’m sure.I lay mine up every winter, every year. Usually from about November through to April, so a good 6 months. That’s only half of every year they get used. I need to stop being stupid and use them more really! Joloke and eddyramrod 2
mat_the_cat Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Just check out this ultra shite and thin Chrome plating after just 3 months of Winter Slumber I think I've got the same air filter housing, but painted - in the thinnest paint you can imagine! So I've gone over it with several coats, in the hope it'll keep rust from forming. I don’t use my cars through winter much at all tbh. The wet and the salt worry me something terrible!! They might come out a couple of times at most through winter, ideally on a dry day when the roads have dried off. Round here there are literally no days between around December and Feburary where the roads are dry. It's either raining, snowing, or crisp and cold - but then the roads are so heavily salted the moisture gets sucked out of the air and into a greasy film on the road surface. Roll on Spring! danthecapriman 1
PhilA Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 What the Hell is that Smell!!! ????That is what's known as "damp desert". It's the smell you get when a really dry state's dust experiences the winter damp of the UK. Also, depends on the Krylon. Whatever takes it off will also likely remove the silver, too. However, you may find that the original silver has gone porous like mine on the GTA had; in which case there really isn't a way to save it. Phil Junkman, andy18s, danthecapriman and 2 others 5
Junkman Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 That is what's known as "damp desert". It's the smell you get when a really dry state's dust experiences the winter damp of the UK. I remember that smell well. Now that you mentioned it, I have it in my nose again. Joloke, can't you get those typically American moulded carpets anymore? They used to sell them for many different cars back in the day. Anything else just looks wrong. Edit: They still do! And quite an array of other interior bits. https://classicautoreproductions.com/collections/1974-1978-mustang-ii-interior PhilA, Joloke and richardthestag 3
Jim Bell Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 I hope the leavings end up getting recycled into new dash parts for a Kia or Leaf. That would be great. What's the crack with that 405? Joloke 1
eddyramrod Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 That's so appealing! Sadly, nothing I can do about it but I hope someone saves it. Joloke 1
PhilA Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Too far away. Already have a car too. Phil Joloke 1
panhard65 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 My Thunderbird came over via San Fransico and cost just under 2 grand to get it here. That included shipping from L.A to be loaded in S.F then to Southampton. I would be surprised if it could be done any cheaper but can enquire if anyone wanted to go after it. Joloke 1
danthecapriman Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Mines a swine to start after it’s been parked up for ages. Takes forever to pull fuel up from the tank. I’ve not fired mine up for a while actually... Joloke 1
Magnificent Rustbucket Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 I'm sad to see this. I enjoyed reading your posts.
danthecapriman Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Sorry to see you’ve had to walk Jo, i loved seeing your updates on this car. Who knows, maybe things might change, work out or whatever in the future and you come back? Either way though, all the best and I hope the Stang serves you well! The Moog 1
The Moog Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Sad but if it doesn't work then cool. Always welcome back
stonedagain Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Sorry to hear about you leaving, Jo. I will miss reading your posts. Good luck.
mercedade Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 That's a shame. Hope she comes back one day.
Jim Bell Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 That's a shame, I liked this thread. I don't understand why you would specifically remove content but it's obviously something you felt it necessary to do. Dick Cheeseburger, The Moog, mrbenn and 1 other 4
Magnificent Rustbucket Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 I do - it's a personal thing I guess. I threw in the towel here a while back and removed the thread I wrote on my own car because it had content personal to me on it. I didn't want it on a forum I felt I was not a part of. She possibly feels the same. I didn't remove any of my replies on other people's threads since I felt it would break up the continuity of them and cause them damage which I didn't want to do. I ended up coming back after a few months in the end because I found I was still visiting occasionally. I semi-regret removing the thread because I had put a lot of effort into it, but hey, that's life. Jim Bell 1
