Small Starter Packs

Sorry if I've asked this before but anyone experienced with those new small starter/booster packs? (The one's that sort of fit in the glovebox).

I'd like to buy one as my old Clarke (900 I think) conventional 'Battery in a box' type unit is starting to die of old age (battery crapping out as can be expected after seven years). I've seen a Clarke one in MM for about £90 but if I wait 'til they have a VAT-Free day, it'll be about £78.

Any recommendations of others? Don't want an El-Cheapo £25 special that will only last a couple of years at best and don't need lots of bell and whistles and shit-you'll-never-use functions.

^^ Thanks mate that's what I was looking for! Should have remembered DBPower units as DB is my initials!

I was given a small one - struggles to start big petrol/diesel engines but I suspect it may be dying.

I just keep a spare 063 sized battery in the boot and a set of jump leads , however my job does entail leaving the car parked up for days at a time ........it does the job , can be swapped with the main battery if needed , and is easy to top up.

I recently bought one of amazon for 60 quid and it only bloody well works . I'd imagine it only works for cars that start well but just have a flat battery . What I mean is I wouldn't use one to bleed up a Diesel engine or any engine that doesn't start straight away

I got one from ECP for about £80. It’s bloody great. Started a 3.0 Alfa, absolutely no trouble when the battery didn’t even have enough juice to work the central locking. I’ve used it loads

I have a cheapy £25 eBay job - seems to be working so far.  Obvs it's not got as much grunt as a "proper" jump pack but it boosted the Rover of Doom into life last weekend and it would happily start the 200 VI (so 1.8 pez) when that had no battery on it at all.  How long the thing will last is of course anyone's guess.

Bought a Hilka one a few months ago. Works just dandy.
