I have long felt this about cars.

They are not just the sum of their components because they do not build, restore, or drive themselves.   People make that happen and they leave their mark and their spirit.

Really, that was the point I made about the Sierra in the aforementioned monologue. Until last year, it was modest yet dependable transport to its owner. It took them to church, it took them on holiday, and to the shops. It was a van, an office, a taxi and it was freedom.

Chances are the previous owner has fond memories of the car, but not of it in a magazine or at a show - but of the times it brought their children home, took them to a special place or got a loving bodge to overcome a new idiosyncratic fault.

People dying will often teach you to live. That delicious irony is not lost on me.

Good luck x

No, It's one of the things I find appealing about Beetles, along with the interesting people who often seem to own them.

I'm going to be a pedant and suggest the floorpan is not a '66, unless later running gear has been fitted. Would be the wide-five wheel bolt pattern if it was...
