stripped fred Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I see this car regularly and it looks pretty cool on it's French reg plates. Looks to be in regular use. I know nothing about it though. Thought I'd share. It says Talbot 1100GLS on the back but no model type. mercrocker, Mr Laurence, theorganist and 17 others 20

stripped fred Posted September 8, 2017 Author Posted September 8, 2017 That belongs or did belong to Autoshite founder Mr H SceptreReally? It's a nice looking car and I don't think I've ever seen one before. Does anyone know which model it is or is it just called the 1100? Faker 1
eddyramrod Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Yes, it's the estate version of what we used to know as the Simca 1100. To be wearing Talbot badges it must be quite late, just pre-Horizon perhaps. Faker, stripped fred and Sigmund Fraud 3
Faker Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 My first-ever car was a 5 door simca 1100 in that colour!VRM KiA5533 AND!!! It was 1976... and it was scrapped in 1983 due to rot!! It actually looked fine, but the rear underside was gone! Major mot fail. My dad replaced it in 1983 with a very fresh alpine VRM MiA6168. AND!!! At the time in norn iron, the first MOT was at 7 years of age.. it was scrapped at its first MOT! Bamboocarman, Zantimisfit, Shep Shepherd and 2 others 5
Braddon81 Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 It's a late badged car. The 1100 was made up until 1982 as a value model undercutting the Horizon and ended its life as a Talbot. stripped fred and eddyramrod 2
Dick Cheeseburger Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I helped drag a Simca van version of one of these out of a garden in the early 90's. Bearing in mind it would have been less than 15 years old, it was absolutely rotten. Uber rare at the time, as well. This beige beauty certainly is an eye catcher - great spot.
Zantimisfit Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Remember the first time I went to France as a school kid and the place was absolutely crawling with these. Difficult to take in that Simcas were the best selling cars in France for a while given that they are more or less totally forgotten now. In 1980 the Paris police still had Simca 1000s. Chrysler did a 'great' job when they took them over. Everything they touched turned to ash in about six months! As a nerdy aside shouldn't a late Talbotised 1100 have a black grille and plastic trimz? This looks earlier. Or is all that in my head? Lovely to see it still plying its trade.
stripped fred Posted September 8, 2017 Author Posted September 8, 2017 GIB ffs!I don't understand your acronyms.
Vin Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 That's a great car that, love it. I remember the thread when that was collected, must be a few years now... How long can you run round on French plates then??
trigger Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 2011, sadly all the photobucket photos have now gone.
quicksilver Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 It's a later version of this. This one is apparently the sole UK-registered survivor of the Simca-badged estates. 1973 Simca 1100 GLS Break by Adam Floyd, on Flickr Shep Shepherd, Squire_Dawson, Sudsprint and 1 other 4

capsuleboy Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 I'll buy it if its still knocking around Leicester!
mk2_craig Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Cant find the original thread after a half-arsed search, its probably ruined by all that Photobucket bollocks anyway. Some moving pictures instead:- Sudsprint and stripped fred 2
stripped fred Posted September 8, 2017 Author Posted September 8, 2017 I don't think I could afford it even if it was for sale, which I doubt!
stripped fred Posted September 8, 2017 Author Posted September 8, 2017 I will say that it doesn't seem to move that much as always parked in the same place...
Squire_Dawson Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Lovely car which really suits the colour. The poor thing needs some urgent attention to its door though.

stripped fred Posted September 9, 2017 Author Posted September 9, 2017 Just shown a photo of this to the wife as I was trying to explain autoshite and our love for the undesirable and unloved cars. She said 'it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen, like a mini bus'. I don't think I can show her the autoshite way... Yoss 1
AnthonyG Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 The Talbot badge looks homemade, they didn't use those Simca type badges but plastic ones like you got on the bonnet of a Alpine or Solara. It's probably a early/mid 1970s Simca model.
Junkman Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 I'll buy it if its still knocking around Leicester! No jumping the queue here, alright? capsuleboy 1
cros Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I ran a lhd one in the 70's. They work fine but the engines sound like skelingtons copulating on a tin roof and gearchange is Maxishit. I delivered lots of new ones including the 3 different van styles and they're all like it, handling was decent though. Cassette points adjusted with an allen key through the side of the distributor, and rust tended to break out in a rash. I'd rather have one than any of today's equivalents. Heuliez versions that got away. Uncle Jimmy, Lacquer Peel and Shep Shepherd 3

Shep Shepherd Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 There used to be a pale yellow 1100 Break in my village in the early 1980s. Its hubcaps reminded me of KP Skips mk2_craig, JeeExEll and mercrocker 3

My Talbot-badged Simca/Dodge 1100 hi-top van had exactly that type of Talbot badge on the bonnet edge (and a Dodge transfer, G50-style on the RH rear door) It was a 1980 model.
