Volvo 340 DL - fuck it, it's staying.

The 1.4s are reliable too. Wouldn't worry about putting lots of miles on them, the trim, bodywork etc is a bit shonky, but the mechanical parts (minus propshaft) are all fairly robust.

Prop on a1.4 is fine.  They only spin rubber couplings when people start putting double or trebble the power and torque that the drivetrain was designed for through it.

On the fb page for these, prop shafts on the 'upgraded' versions seem to pop every few miles. They don't seem to grasp this. My advice is to buy prop shafts for these, store them and charge top dollar when they struggle to get them anymore.

Seriously, prop shafts are mentioned every couple of posts. Weird.

Yup. They cant take it. Gearbox and engine mounts can also sag and push alignment out, leading to accelerated wear on the rubbers. Usually only a bother on 1.7s. 1.4 manual and 1.7 props are different. Ive never seen a prop issue on a 1.4 running a stock engine. Doesnt mean it doesnt happen like.

It needs to be manual.

Sorry man, but if it was - it'd be sat outside right now.

Why the rush to sell? You only just got it, it's as smart as they come and at the bottom of the price curve. What's changed?? I know you were hoping to knock work on the head a bit sooner than previously thought, but I'd be hanging onto this until the end.

It'll have to leave the safety of the garage shortly and parking it outside fills me with da fear.

I just want it to go to a good home and raise a few quid in the process if possible.

Aye (had to look it up in case I mis-remembered).

The Renno manual ones (that is B14 1.4, B172, 1.7 and D16 1.6 dizzler) have those clamps at either end. The CVT ones don't. Also the 300 CVT ones have about twice as many internal splines as the 66 ones.

I've put a timescale on this. It is advertised but nothing has happened yet. If no genuine interest or actual sale after 2 weeks then she stays. She will have to live outside but I can do nothing about this.

I agree and I guess I lost track of that point. What does not help is the sheer volume of utter dickheads on the roads around this way. Just got into a rut I think.
