Before Selling Your Car...Check the tyres FIRST!!!

I was going to post this in the Ebay Tat thread, but decided that this needs it's own thread.

Tonight, whilst looking at Mercedes on the bay of E, I happened to see this.....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-CKL55-AMG-V-REG-/152622813748?hash=item2389075234:g:IjYAAOSwWdZZZ6sS

Bit overpriced, More likely than not had the shit ragged out of it etc... But, it is a genuine W208 CLK 55 AMG.

Anyway, upon looking at the pictures, this one stood out like a sore thumb......No not the rusty bits.....Check out the state of the Tyre...!!!

I mean......That is surely blow out material?

Hard to tell if it's showing cords or not. I bet Barum is just what the AMG boys had in mind when it was on the drawing board though eh.

The amount of older cars I've looked at that are on really old (older than 10yr) tyres always surprises me. Often when I point it out the response is "Its only done 3k on them!". Which is fine, but when they're breaking up and degrading it's not.

This I'd the same seller I got my celica from. He is a decent old chap and it as his wife's car . I think he said she has had it eleven years. Anyway he has a brand new Mercedes parked next to it what he has just bought his wife. He got offered £500 off mercedes in part ex for the new one. So has shoved this on ebay. An offer may not be too quickly dismissed. To be fair the inside looked nicer than the outside.

Surprising how strong a tyre is, many race with gashes zipped together with cable ties.

Not us though.

We've done that with a tractor tyre after it split, it was meant to be temporary....

Therefore , as long as the cable ties are tight , and you can't see the cords , it'll pass an mot  :-D
