Stanky Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Are you going to try and buy a floor for the R16? Or maybe an R16 that has entirely rusted away, save for the floorpan and front wings? Magnificent Rustbucket, oldcars, Junkman and 1 other 4

pshome Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Besides, since when do I succeed? As long as you have a certified cheque in french gold crowns to pay with, you will be fine.
Junkman Posted June 28, 2017 Author Posted June 28, 2017 I thought my Dublin Doubloons will do? DeeJay 1
DodgeRover Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 I've been desperately scanning the Lille area for a mk1/2 transit to make your journey back easier* but to no avail I'm afraid Junkman 1
egg Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Ah, lovely Lille, town of my French family. My grandmother used to tell a great true* story about flicking v signs at Hitler while under occupation. But they did genuinely have a German soldier billeted with them. And supposedly my great grandfather was in the resistance, but I've yet to find decisive evidence. Can't find any Favorit parts in Lille, so as you were Bonne chance, les gars. Junkman and Magnificent Rustbucket 2
castros_bro Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 I'll be there Juillet 16 with Billy, Dusty and Frank, if you need a lift back I'll be on a moped but it does have an genuine Bayern mofa anhaengerkupplung http://www.concertandco.com/artiste/zz-top/lille/billet-concert-20597-35.htm Junkman and DeeJay 2
Junkman Posted June 29, 2017 Author Posted June 29, 2017 Should any Mofa pop up for grabbage, it'll serve as a castros_bro_breakdown_cover in the Beastestate's cavernous hold.
Junkman Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 Right. We prepared the car. We didn't bother to fix the leaking thermostat housing. Magnificent Rustbucket, Dave_Q, chaseracer and 6 others 9
Junkman Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 During our 7 hour trip to Dover because the English are unable to just drive the fuck ON,we saw this: And this: Dave_Q, Magnificent Rustbucket, danthecapriman and 4 others 7
Junkman Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 We finally arrived at the ferry port. It was firmly in German hands. Magnificent Rustbucket, RobT, danthecapriman and 8 others 11
Junkman Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 The presence of this calmed our fears as we prepared to face the wastelands of that Continent. We figured that it was heavy duty enough to even recover the Beastestate. Bucketeer, nacho man, eddyramrod and 3 others 6
Junkman Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 I wonder whether they still use R16 engine blocks for their effort. Conrad D. Conelrad and oldcars 2
Junkman Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 France was closed as usual, but that didn't keep us away from enjoying ourselves. Lacquer Peel, chodweaver, Bucketeer and 11 others 14

danthecapriman Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Great to see the Beast Estate getting used as it should be. Should make light work of that sort of continental trip. You've probably done more mileage in it since you've had it than I did since 2008 up to early this year! I hope the old queen behaves herself for you... Junkman 1
Junkman Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 This is the archishite we stayed in. It's so freshly renovated, that it looks a bit like a 3D rendering in the photos. Magnificent Rustbucket, Bucketeer, Dick Cheeseburger and 5 others 8
Junkman Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Chod littered the streets. The Beastestate blended in well with the locals. Conrad D. Conelrad, CGSB, Dave_Q and 6 others 9
Junkman Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Archishite was ripe all round. Lacquer Peel, They_all_do_that_sir, eddyramrod and 4 others 7
Junkman Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Everything was closed. Everything. For the past 35 odd years, I have been unable to verify the hype about French Cuisine.I have never eaten any of it, because it has never been made available to me.Regardless which day of the week, or whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinnertime, everything is closed. We went to a huge shopping mall near Calais on the way back to do some shopping.Amazingly a few shops inside that mall were actually open. So some shopping could be done, but for examplecigarettes were not obtainable. They also had a food court, but only a selected few of the restaurants were open, amongst other two Irish Pubs, and several Pizza and Burger joints. Only one Brasserie was open and when we went in, we were immediatelytold by a panic stricken waiter that 'zee keetshain iz clozede'. So I was relegated to eat what I always have been relegated to to eat in France - a burger. Shopping was not entirely unsuccessful, though. And here is the actual raison de la trip: Six-cylinder, oldcars, egg and 12 others 15

Nothing like having your car bathed in a salt water mist for an hour. Frogchod, eddyramrod, richardthestag and 12 others 15
