Junkman Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 OMG the form arrived today. The guide to fill it in is thicker than the form, something I wouldn't have deemed possible. alf892 1
Junkman Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 Hihi, I ...hihi, filled out that form...haha...hihi. Does anyone here know a good therapist? RobT 1

IMG_20170625_134202_hdr.jpg Junkman would it be easier if I just posted you the number plates off mine? We could share the mot cost although I'm not sure which is more likely to pass.. Joking aside, this is why a V5 from a long dead car is worth a few quid. Junkman 1
Junkman Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 That certainly has a different reason. The Reverend Bluejeans 1

Registering the Reliant in France was totally painless and almost paperless despite common perception about Frog bureaucracy.Only problem was getting to the Prefecture for when they see fit to be open."open" and "France" are probably two words you don't recognise though Junkman 1

beko1987 Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Ancient French car with good owner - easy mot pass Modern French car with stupid owner - terrible mot experience and 9 pages of shit on the subject... Lacquer Peel 1
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 The handbrake in this is also a problem - but only because you have to unbuckle your seatbelt to reach the lever! DSdriver, beko1987 and Junkman 3
Junkman Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Not for much longer. Newfangled reeling belts have arrived.
DSdriver Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 I am not sure if they were built like that to dissuade hand brake use or seat belt use. Ds were the same until later models.
Junkman Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 They eventually relocated the hand brake and ignition lock to places where you can actually reach them. After they started fitting them with inertia reel belts, that is. Frenchies, you know.
Felly Magic Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Another in the Junkman Climate Improvement Arsenal™ hitting the road
Junkman Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Road hittage is sadly weeks away. I needed the MoT cert so I can finally send off the reg request.Sadly I'm currently on holidays, so this won't happen until Monday. Then it's again in the hands of Britain's bureaucratic bureaucrats hence I expect the worst.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 The interior is back in, more or less. Needs new bolts for the seat runners before it can be driven - there's only two usable ones left. I'm so used to seeing it empty, it looks crowded in there with seats! It's not just the seat runner bolts which need replacing. Look what I found when I (eventually) got one of the rear armrests off: Yeah, I don't think I'm going to put that back. I don't know how they avoided piercing the door skin bolting it on! richardthestag, Lacquer Peel and Magnificent Rustbucket 3
Junkman Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 That's why the windows often stick when you try to wind them down. Also, you are putting the wrong interior in.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I'm not installing an interior. I am clearing a garage. BorniteIdentity 1

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I demand a Right to Reply! Here's my reply - he's right! Except on the overpriced bit. Junkman Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 You will never believe this - I actually managed to send off the paperwork to the DVLA today. So if everything goes right, in a country, where you have to apply for a licence to operate a telly,I might have this thing registered in four to six - uh - years. If everything goes right that is.The powers there are are going to decide upon it now.I hope they will find an old, beaten up Renner with 54 OMGBHP worthy of being held back onher Majesty's low and highways by British motorists. If everything goes right, I'm looking a bit forward to which reg they are going to assign. In the meantime, I'm saving up for a set of new tyres, since the ones on the car will haveflat patches by then. Junkman Posted July 29, 2017 Author Posted July 29, 2017 Right. Where were we? Oh yes, R16. Well, it's back at the Junktowers now. It is fascinating how you can watch it rust away right in front of your eyes. In grand GGG tradition, the rear seat was swapped in pouring rain. L@@K!!!! I CAN HAZ FLOORZ: But before the work on the interior can continue, the sound deadening I just ordered needs to arrive. Sigmund Fraud, Magnificent Rustbucket, worldofceri and 14 others 17

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Since the old passenger seat is in very good condition, I have taken it. I'm going to turn it into a chair using the skills I believe I have. Magnificent Rustbucket, Junkman, Tickman and 2 others 5
Junkman Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 For the not initiated, R16 seats are upholstered with genuine horse tail hair. How they maintained that supply chain while chucking out the cars by the million load I better leave to your imagination. Horse Gulasch is formidable, though.Guess how I know. The Moog, catsinthewelder, Sigmund Fraud and 1 other 4
