Saab convertible with clattery engine

Recommended Posts

I bought a saab 900 convertible because the sun was shining and thought I'd sell it in the summer for OMG millionzzz, but I can't be arsed. I paid £275 for it so would like something like that....

Despite rattle in engine it drives OK, you can get an engine on ebay from £100-£275 so it's still worth doing, they're an £850-£1750 car in summer.

It's blue, it's an auto and the roof goes pop at the touch of a button.

Car is in Wickham market in Suffolk

Can you define "clattery"?

Talbot Horizon?

Mk1 Fiesta?

9" coach bolts in a washing machine?

Skellington wanking in a metal dustbin while rolling down a hill?

Could you just live with it or is FTP imminent?

Would that be Chris Skellington?

I've driven it about 30 miles and its been OK, but it's a bit ticky tocky

Sump sludging? If so, needs to be cleaned asap to prevent killing.

Non turbo 2 litre. I've not had time to look at it or even flush the oil

It's had an advisory on an old mot to say it wanted 2 litres of oil adding before the test, that's probably why it sounds like that.

Would it be worth making a video-with sound obvs, and post it on here?

Posted

Possibly but possibly not as mics pick up and distort sound sometimes to the extent a quiet engine can sound like it's crackered

And it was a turbo too, this one seems more repairable I think, at least it drives!

No, that was a manual and I think it went to Bob the Beard.

It was a manual indeed.

But I didn't buy it. To much hassle and potential expense really....
