Bought this to use for a Banger rally but with only 6 weeks to go and some setbacks Ive not been able to get it ready. We have bought a Volvo V70 T5 to use instead that has enough MOT to last us the rally.

 

1998 S reg 2.5 6 Cylinder (BMW) TD.

Auto Gearbox

 

Windscreen Cracked and will need to be replaced.

Auto Gearbox slow to engage reverse and I think the drive plate is noisey. I have changed the Gearbox oil and filter (and gaskets) which cost me over 50 quid but I recon the oil will need changing again once its flushed around as its still slow to engage reverse.

Not a straight panel on it, most bits of trim are screwed on, scratched, dented etc.

Sunroof doesnt work and the seal is borked

Aircon system has been removed (badly)

Interior smelly, has been a smokers car. Have spent 2 days cleaning it so its not as bad.

No radio

Thermostat stuck open/or missing

Electric fans on switch in cab

Tow bar fitted

Takes a few turns of the key to start especially when warm

Runs and drives fine, we drove it 80 miles back from coventry without fault.

 

Has 1/4 tank of diesel in it still.

You should have seen the light coloured plastics. Hit them with G101, then a scrubbing brush soaked in multi purpose cleaner, then a wet cloth. They went from a dark brown to a light grey. UGGHHHH.

 

I found a half smoked cigarette under the passenger front seat with corresponding carpet burn half an inch big. Im suprised it hasnt burnt down years ago!!

Obviously, I can recommend this engine and gearbox combo. I note the delicious velour has passenger lumbar adjustment. My fancy leather doesn't seem to include that.

Its a CDX model so it comes with more things that probably dont work. The gearbox is crap. They put the AR25 gearbox in these and down rate the 170hp engine to 130hp. Any more and it shits itself. Ideally it needs an AR35 out of a V6 dropping in, then boosting back up to a respectable figure.

In the early days of concern about smoking one of the published effects of smoking during pregnancy was stunted growth of the offspring. Good job my Ma smoked loads of tabs when pregnant - I am 6'4" - I'd have been a monster size except for all those fags she smoked.

Well, yes. They aren't the strongest, but it's a nice gearbox in use. Or so I've found so far.

Nope, he's still on his way from oldham. Must have set out on foot, he'll have a shock when he gets here because its gone!
