Supernaut Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 XUD transplant into the Civic. Civic is based on Rover 400. Rover 400 came with the L-series turbo diesel. Close enough.
Mally Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I don't know what kind of hammer you have but it needs to be a big one. http://www.dudeiwantthat.com/outdoors/tools/bash-unbreakable-sledge-hammers.asp
Supernaut Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 FIXED. Thank you Tayne for holding the socket and extension bar, allowing me to get a good swing with the mallet. Once it stopped bouncing, it only took a couple of good sharp hits to get the core plug in. Foamy. I put a dishwasher tablet in because the old coolant that came out was MANKY. Also, the air burping up through is causing extra foam! Expansion tank is that one waaaay over to the left. The box next to it is the ECU. Yay Citroen! Guest Hooli Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 That's right, we fixed a problem by hammering a smaller socket! DusNutCumpote

Ghosty Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Civic is based on Rover 400. Rover 400 came with the L-series turbo diesel. Close enough. Not close enough. You could get R8s with XUDs.
Supernaut Posted August 20, 2017 Author Posted August 20, 2017 I drained the water and dishwasher tablet earlier, and while it was draining I took a seat. Forgot how comfortable and spacious it is in the back... The stuff that came out today was slightly lighter brown than the stuff that came out earlier in the week. I've got proper antifreeze in there now and will probably leave it. Meh! All systems are A-OK, and the temperature is steady. It's also no longer making a weird mist from the top of the radiator like it was on the test drive the other day. I have cleaned up the engine bay with de-greaser since that test drive though, and I reckon the weird mist was the remnants of the old coolant that got sprayed everywhere burning off.
