Front and rear fog lamps

Presence, condition and operation

The Tester will inspect:

  • front fog lamps fitted to vehicles first used on or after 1 March 2018
  • the 1 rear fog lamp which must be fitted to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980

Yayyyyyy. Anything about gopping holes in the front bodywork?

Posted

But it's even better as there's no holes in the bodywork at all, or rust! The driver side wing mirror has a wrap of electrical tape around it to diagnose a rattle from the cover, which fixed it so I left it on!

200 notes seems a lot for a scrapper to be paying. I wonder if the CAT on these are worth a bit?

I'd assume most of the value of a Goona  is the cat ;)

The scrap value of the w203 Merc surprised me at £285, again I assume they have big cats which are worth lots.

CarTakeBack quoted £181 collected for a 1997 Volvo V70 T5 (or £239 delivered) so that seems about the going rate for that sort of size car.

I've agreed to buy it for £200. Needs heater matrix but MOTd to August, leather, only two owners and 128k  Should be collecting it the same day as Beko gets the 406.  I'll start a thread when I have it.

Sorry for thread drift!

Sad how quickly these have disappeared.  Hopefully it'll tide someone over for a few months.

With BeEP at the wheel, its future is secure.

Agreed, and correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the facelifted ones supposed to have had most of the issues sorted?

That one SIC sold was absolutely gorgeous

I don't think BeEp has bought mine, he's on about a different car!

Its been faultless in my ownership! Not one ftp ever, starts first time, almost everything works, what doesn't is because I can't be bothered/don't care (rear windows) and I was fully prepared to carry on snottering about with it before bramz messed everything up, I've always wanted to try a 406!

I hope it's saved too, and I'm a bit sad the price isn't cheaper, if I'd got bored in March on work bonus month it would be given away as I wouldn't need the money, but I'm turning on my Monzo overdraft to buy the 406, and a £204 cheque dropped straight back in will turn it back off again! Hence the £40 of derv as a sweetener!

I have every confidence it'll pass its mot tbh, it flew through last year bar an advisory for the steering arms which I sorted way back in the spring! It's a bit tired, but still drives fine!

Apologies for any confusion, I was referring to the Volvo in my previous sentence,  Was just using it as a comparison of CarTakeBack prices (other car collection services are available etc,,,)

I ran a 54 plate Goona 1.9DCi Sport Tourer for six months and had zero grief, apart from losing one of the bastard keycards in the space of 20 seconds - never to be seen again. It literally vanished into thin air.

The 2007 Laguna I owned at 3 years old is still alive and kicking - only has 68k on the clock and has pissed every MoT

They don't like being put through the washing machine, both mine are missing the key part (there is a brand new key bit in the history file though) and battery. One could be reassembled but the other one snapped a big part off.

Good job I never lock it ever!

It was a good steer whilst I had it, and certainly enjoyed being driven like an unlicensed mini cab.

There was a fair wad of history including a cambelt iirc.

Posted

Yes, and that's a good selling point I forgot to say my, cambelt etc is less than halfway through its life! And a Bible of service history! I've even filled in the old giffer notebook with bits I've done that chronicles it's last 5 years just to carry it on.

There's a week to save it!

I really don’t like Ph1 Lag 2s (unless they’re PISS GREEN) but this sounds like a decent proposition IMO

Drink until it looks piss green, then do a buy

Thank* me later..

Buy car with 400 miles of juice in the tank

Waft through an mot, either with a friendly tester for the fog light, be safe that it's not a fail anyway or replace it

Drive it until it goes bang at 53mpg on a run in 6th gear

Scrap it for most of your money back when it does expire

There's bits of your old car on it too, wheels, speakers, sun visor, cabin filter...

I could paint it green, would that help?

Nah. I really like my Primera and will only get rid of it for something really stupid like Wack’s L322 RR

I really wish I’d saved Hooli’s one though because of THAT COLOUR

You had no idea what colour it was till you got it washed!

Due to the collection of Nu_car being bought forward to tomorrow morning, I have my ASM quote printed and in the car ready for drop off monday morning, so speak now or forever hold your peace! Can keep it hidden around the corner for a week if needed for collection, but it will be untaxed and uninsured. £40 fuel offer still stands!

It's always sad emptying a car when it's the end, even sadder when it's going for scrap! I couldn't look it in the face as I removed everything

What's the chances of a roffle at £3.39 a pop, even at this late stage?

If all the tickets sell out before 10.30 tomorrow when I drive it to asm I'm game!

It's funny - about 13 years ago I drove a LHD 1978 728 to my local breakers, LC Hughes in Bicester. It was on Dutch plates and I'd done a fair few epic trips in it. I got 100 quid for it iirc.

I saw it a month later, stacked on top of another scrapper with bits ripped off it - I felt violated. That's my car.

No it ain't.

So after taking this on it's last drive before it's certain doom, I thought I would reflect on the ownership costs.

The car cost £150 from Ruffgeezer in Sept 2017

£60 on front tie rods, track rod ends and drop links

£45 on tracking and wheel balancing

£30 on 2 sets of rear exhaust rubbers

£8 on a radio control adapter for the steering wheel that just did the volume...

£50ish on a service before the summer

£15 on rear pads

£358 total ownership and running cost! CPM is £0.023p

However, I made just over £400 breaking the blue laguna for spares and weighing in the rest

So I suppose it's cost me -£42 to run the car for just over 15,000 miles! Cost per mile is -£0.0028p...

Cost to change -

Bramz 406 is £275

Giving Gareth £20 and a pack of baccy to pick me up and take me to collect it, so £33

ASM will give me £204 for taking the Laguna there

Total spend - £104!

We could be picky and take the £42 surplus from before out and make the cost £62, but we wont as thats long gone! I've got the handbook pack, haynes manual radio and indicator stalk in the shed too, will see if I can get a few pennies from the laguna people on facebook for that, otherwise I'll bring it to the next meetup and dump it all in a box/bub's car when he's not looking

I haven't taken tax, insurance or fuel into account, as I'd have to spend that regardless of what car I ran, and don't think it's worth caring about!

So not all lagunas are shit! Just most of them... And here, barring any major fuckup/someone actually wanting to buy it, ends the tale of my laguna ownership over 2 cars! I'll start a new thread for the new car, as it is a Peugeot, and therefore different. I've ended all my other car threads when the car is gone, this one just morphed into 2 cars with the breaking of the blue gooner.
