Hertz Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Stuff a pair of Y fronts in there to soak up the oil as did Dollywobbler with his leaky diesel pump. Replace Y fronts once a week, bish bash bosh. The Moog, strangeangel and beko1987 3
oldcars Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Inclined to agree with the run it until dead. Any money spent us unlikely to fix from the sounds of things.

Replace Y fronts once a week, bish bash bosh.I only have 4 pairs of pants... That's not enough for a week of wear and soaking. Plan B is afoot, and quite convoluted as all good Autoshite backup plans are. For the immediate term, it's being driven as I need to get to work and back! I even got an 'ok' from Amy about it, although not home from work yet so not sure how happy she is, but as I told her, the alternative is either me spend a good few hundred quid on the stuff I know it needs, and the stuff I find, or some random few hundred quid car from facebook. Current plan B is neither of these things!

SiC Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Its battery is knackered, manifold leaking, seals blowing, interior fan temperamental, a Renault 2.2 dci and a Laguna II. Yeah, don't spend money on it. I refer you to my post on page 5 of this thread... This car you must treat as a disposable object. If it fails and needs more than a tenner spending on it, then sack it off. There are plenty of other decent Laguna II kicking around still to take its place. Biggest risk on this is the engine imploding. Hence if it starts having problems with it, continue driving it until its either dangerous to or it no longer runs. Seriously that's how it needs to be treated. I've seen how carried away you can get fixing cars that you've fallen in love with. beko1987 1

I refer you to my post on page 5 of this thread...Dont forget the coolant loss, needing a service and discs and pads all round v soon etc Datsuncog - as much as it would be legendary to swap a case of freddo bars for a car, plan b doesn't involve a ferry. Just a train! Datsuncog, SiC and The Moog 3

Well now, I got rid of this one in exchange for a fairly decent bottle of Rioja, so I'm certainly no stranger to converting Gooners into groceries... (No, really) Best of luck with the actual Plan B: waiting with baited breath here to see how it pans out! beko1987 and oldcars 2
Stanky Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 So, we now know what the question mark in the underpants gnomes grand plan is It goes Collect Underpants -> Soak up all the oil in Beko's 'goona engine, overheat, catch fire, burn out the 'goona, claim on insurance -> Profit loserone, The Moog, Dave_Q and 1 other 4
oldcars Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Does Bub not have a Mondeo he needs rid of? Cash might help him out too.
beko1987 Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Does Bub not have a Mondeo he needs rid of? Cash might help him out too.Didn't think of that, sadly plan B is already in motion
Kiltox Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Think you’re a bit hasty to bin it when it’s tested and still runs, it won’t grenade just because of a little leak beko1987 and The Moog 2
The Moog Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Think you’re a bit hasty to bin it when it’s tested and still runs, it won’t grenade just because of a little leakAgree. It shouldnt cause break downage* *no guarantee of non breakdownage should be taken from this statement. Breakdownages may go up as well as down due to the fluctuations in the french pixies living in your car Heidel_Kakao, Datsuncog, beko1987 and 2 others 5
Sloth in a bowl Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 For the cheap fix, try 2 part epoxy metal. From my experience, if you are sealing a small hole, this stuff will work. http://www.loctite.co.uk/loctite-4087.htm?nodeid=8802656387073
beko1987 Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Think you’re a bit hasty to bin it when it’s tested and still runs, it won’t grenade just because of a little leakProblem is it's everything else. If I lift the lid and the manifold is cracked as apparently do quite often, I'm further back. The things I know it needs is: BatteryThermostatCoolant leak (has got a bit worse than when I first got it from you)Rear bushesAutobox is not changing quite as happily as once it did, although that could be related to the stat and engine issuesToday's issuesNeeds discs and pads all roundTrackingNeeds a service Not much individually, but add them together and it's alot for me! Plus, because everyone advised not to love it, I don't! I'm sad to see it go, but not heartbroken. Plus it's winter, and I don't mind being at the side of the road in the sun, but not in the cold. If I honestly believed £60 of rubber and a days work would cure all it's evils, I'd do it, but I don't see it somehow It still runs, but I have a window of opportunity that if I don't take now, it goes!

beko1987 Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 The middle bit is 'drive Renault to Cannock'It wouldnt do so well though, the dash has no warning lights on it! If I could get it up there and then get home I'd be well game for it though... fuck it, be a laugh. £141.95 is the least I need to get though, that's what my local yard offers if I drive it there
twosmoke300 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Can you nip the injector bolts up without stripping the manifold etc . If you can then do that and go til she blows then scrap . Don't get invested at all strangeangel and alf892 2

Don't get invested at all I'll try that, giving them a good wobble shows them quite firm though, but it may help in the short term. I'll bring tools with me tomorrow and have a go at lunchtime
beko1987 Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Have you checked Autotrader for a v6 Laguna? how about now? If I could afford to run a v6 laguna I'd get a v6 something else! mercrocker and HarmonicCheeseburger 2
SiC Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 They're not that bad. Around 25-30mpg on a run. Totally need to send this around Cannock though! oldcars 1
Guest Hooli Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Even worse, its the 2.2 diesel.10% more frenchness for the win.
Guest Hooli Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I'd stuff a rag in it & drive it till the MOT is almost out. Kiltox 1
Kiltox Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Can confirm Hooli happily drives worse death traps
jonathan_dyane Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Can't you remove the injector by just unbolting it and driving it or would it fly through the bonnet?
Guest Hooli Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Can confirm Hooli happily drives worse death traps That goona was perfect until some idiot washed the structural dirt off it. Kiltox, beko1987, Exiled_Tat_Gatherer and 2 others 5

Totally need to send this around Cannock though! If someone helps me get it up to cannock/gets me home from cannock we could do that, although the prospect of a no sale does worry me a tad... I need to see at least the £140 back that is my baseline for my man math to work though...
DodgeRover Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 If you undo the clamp bolts then drive down the road won't the compression pressure pop it out?
Guest Hooli Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Depends how well it's stuck, I'm sure I've seen an engine lifted by an unbolted injector before. Worth a try mind.
25v6turbo Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 PM sent!!!I will buy it as it stands no issues, just get it to me and its sold.......Price to be discussed!
