VWPowered Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 wow spa looks great that, like nothing else out there, now get it cut and polished
M'coli Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 How about masking the raised edges and blootering the flat panels with the mechanical polisher, then going over the edges with a cloth?
michiel Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Thanks for all the tips! LOL@gtd2000 - but do you mean Dutch roads are better? Yesterday's mini-trip went well, she pulls well up to 100 km/h and above, did get it up to 120+. Steering is vague and crosswinds make for hard work, brakes are still so so - they work well when you really press the pedal, but if you try some gentle braking the pedal builds up resistance and then lets go to build up resistance once more after half an inch of travel, and so on. There's a lot of wind noise/whistling that needs some investigating, but it is pretty comfy and good fun so far. Shite pic, cool lights.
michiel Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Er, yes, but I forgot to take pics. :wink:Forgot to mention: It's a bit spluttery until fully warm, the gearbox whines as does the driveshaft (I think) when you come off the throttle, the exhaust rattles and farts a bit... still I love it.
gtd2000 Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Thanks for all the tips! LOL@gtd2000 - but do you mean Dutch roads are better? They are indeed much better
michiel Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 you cant beat abit of diff whine Almost every road test of a Japanese car from that period mentions the whine, 'reminiscent of the English cars of the 50s and 60s'.
michiel Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 Haven't done anything to the Florian yet (well, the interior light came on without me noticing and drained the battery, but hurrah, it works!)... but I went to a small meeting yesterday, 300+ km in mostly hard hard rain but she drove alright. Delighted to see that some of the cars were pretty rough too. We had a nice drive in the country, but wet roundabouts and too much throttle in 2nd gear produced a few 'steady!' moments. Lots of interest on the meeting and on the road, people craning necks to find out what it is... as you can see, at 100 km/h on the road it can't be easy to read the badges.
Gompo Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Wow, that's a good trip for something you've not really used much.I certainly woudnt know what it was if i saw it driving past me, even after reading/commenting on this in the past!Looks like a cool meet you went to. Really considering an OJC as a future prospect, although nothing as cool as this.
michiel Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 Cheers, I was glad it did well - rain and heavy wind made it quite an exhausting adventure...
andrew e Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 If she did that little trip she will take you anywhere the little japanese minx!
michiel Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 The mechanical side's pretty good I guess... and I would love a pre-1962 Minx and dress it up as an Isuzu (or a real 3-door estate version!).
Lukas Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 How did life go for the Florian? Is it still yours? Are you driving it or is it stored somewhere?
michiel Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 Still mine, still drive it every few weeks, but I still don't like the size and my girlfriend's joblessness means I don't have money to do anything to it now (read: pay anyone to do anything...) so I'm advertising it and/or looking for swaps for something tiny...
michiel Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 Hadn't seen it for a few weeks... Lovely untouched snowblanket.
Angrydicky Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 That is absolutely epic shite! I wish I had the room and cash for an Isuzu Florian in my life
michiel Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 I need a Florian-sized hole and quite a bit of cash in my life... or a Maxi. But cash more. Aargh. Decisions, decisions, and more and more decisions.
