Skoda Furby Dizzle Tourer 02 reg 1 owner from new £750

I've been tasked to sell the Dragon-In-Law's motor, 'cos you know a bit about cars' etc etc...

It's a 2002 on the 02 reg Skoda Fabia Classic estate with the old skool 1.9 SDi non-turbo lump. It's got a few toys not usually on the base model - electric windows and central locking, ABS too.

She's owned it from new and it has a full service history up to 2012, after which it was looked after by a friend but there's parts receipts to support. Every MOT certificate is there too to back up the mileage. Cambelt done at 91k. Headlights were replaced last year after they clouded up as these tend to do, and the wheel bearing which was an advisory on the last MOT has been sorted too. Basically whatever needed doing has been done! There's an electrical gremlin with the locking, it unlocks on the remote but only locks on the key. Nearly forgot, mileage is 124k now.

The car's in pretty good condition for 15 years old, the Dragon keeps it garaged much of the time hence the paintwork is good with no fade. There's a couple of marks around the car but nothing significant. No dents or scrapes though. She loves her Skodas, this is her third after a Favorit and a Felicia.

I've looked at a handful of valuation sites and around £750 seems to be a sensible price considering it's history and owner count. I'm sure you lot will tell me if it's not! It's in Brightlingsea, Essex, not far from Colchester.

Have some pics...

These are quite appealing and veg friendly. It might be a touch overpriced but only because I'd like it and have a budget of 50p.

It's not the cheapest, especially with the mileage but i bet it's one of the cleanest and well looked after. I bet that would do someone great as a runabout.

Essex to somewhere north of Inverness in a Fabia SDI would feel longer than a life sentence in jail.

I covered thousands of miles in my Fabia SDI, it was fine. Stop dissing on NA diesels, they're great!*

Sadly, my Avensis is literally never going to die.

Sad, because if I'd bought something like this 7 years ago when I started doing between 30 and 40k a year, I'd probably have enough of a deposit saved up to buy a third house.

Good luck.  It feels about right on price to me, maybe shake hands on £600 if you get offered it.

Agreed. Though it's quite a cheerful little thing once you get it up to speed, I've done a couple of hundred miles in one go and it wasn't bad at all!

I might be aiming a little on the high side price-wise, but it's what The Dragon wants, and what The Dragon wants she gets... (though I'm sure I could convince her should a sensible offer be made) As they say, find another with this sort of provenance!

Non turbo means less complexity but the glacier (above) will show the skoda a clean pair of heels.

I must say though it looks a very clean example.

Diesels usually punch above their bare figures, I'd rather have one of these than the wheezy small petrols.

After first hand experience of a polo 9n 1.2, so would I. Small VAG petrol engines seem to score the magic hat trick of being underpowered, unreliable and shit on fuel. At least you're expecting at least one of those qualities in an SDI

I did 200k in 2 years in a Seat Inca van when I first started couriering. Only ever had routine servicing but usually went way over mileage intervals. Would book it in but a job would come in and off I'd go. Could have another couple of thou at least by the time it was back at base.

Same engine dragging half a ton of freight to various points of Europe and back non stop and never felt slow, although I had previously been stuck at 56mph in trucks for a few months. Once wound up it would sit at 90/95 for miles (on the unrestricted Autobahn sections of course).

Had a Felicia with that engine and would still have it today if it wasn't for the galloping rot!
