There was a smashing e36 for £1500 on PH which started this whole thing off.  The guy must have sold it because I've tried ringing him three times a day since the weekend (!)

Some great stuff here, Vincent.  I've taken it all on board.

There's always this one if you got it at the right price and if it's rot free with a working Vanos.

It's had a Cat marker put on it a few years back.

I don't know what the reserve is but it might be worth putting in £550 to £601 with 30 seconds to go tomorrow.

The roof should clean up ok as long as the window is intact with some Milton bottle steriliser tablets in a spray bottle.post-9282-0-85895700-1488381478_thumb.png

Also this one has been up for a long while post-9282-0-04511200-1488381676_thumb.png

It's very low mileage Plus it's an earlier car and I think with the E36 the earlier the car the better the build quality.

It might be worth going direct to the seller and seeing if he would do a deal if the car is decent but I'm not sure if that's lacquer peel on the bonnet.

But I'm sure better will come along if you wait, the only problem will be the prices will start going up now with Spring coming up, I always buy my cabriolets in Autumn or Winter as that's when the bargains are about.

The first place to check for rot is under the jacking point covers if an E36 has them still fitted also check all four wheel arches for grot and also under the front wings,

Also if it's a 4 pot check the headgasket hasn't gone as the coolant is supposed to be changed every couple of years and neglect to the cooling system will eventually take its toll.

Milton sterillising fluid also comes in a spray bottle....exactly what I use on the CLK roof. Brings it up like new (OK, then it's the Autoglym protecter after that). All htis reminds me......it's needing done again in time for summer!!

A dude I worked with had a lovely one. Black with red leather and a red hood. It was untold drama for him sadly.

CVT in the A4 is a horrible nightmare.

I went through this same process looking at convertibles ... I kept going back and ended up with a Smart Roadster. I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you're prepared to fettle with one to get it right.

I saw a 2005 mk2.5 mx5 with a fresh ticket (and unpainted welded sills) for £800 near me. Probably would have been a better less leaky buy than the Roadster!

Great news what did you go for in the end.

Please don't say a PT cruiser from a seller with 33% feedback lol

If you want to be the king of autoshite there can only be one convertible to go for.

I would use the picture of the PT Cruiser convertible to scare errant children.  What a gopper!

Doesn't the King of Autoshite have a beige Talbot Samba convertible with a coachline, mismatched steelies, and a vandalised hood?  Or is that what God drives?

I hope we have a Collektshun Fred coming this way soon.

The anticipation is killing me I so want to see one of these in the fold.
