It hates me. Weird Panda Rattle. Any ideas?

So this Panda 100HP I've had for a bit and done shit loads of work to is up for sales. I recently spent £60 quid getting the dent in the door fixed and doing some bits and bobs to it.

It's in my lockup so it gets moved in and out all the time when I'm working on the cortina. On Friday the battery was flat so I pushed it outside and jumped it. It ran fine so I drove it into the lockup and left it running for 10 minute while I popped to the shops.

When I came back it was making this clacking noise. It sounds like its coming from the rocker cover and it follows the revs. There's plenty oil in it, no warnings on the dash or anything and it wasn't/hasn't overheated.

Has the only decent thing (the engine) in this car shat itself?

Anyone know what da fuck is happening here?

The light clacking noise sounds normal to me (compared with my cars!), but there's another noise which sounds like the exhaust manifold or downpipe blowing.

How come these are so bad, when the basic Panda is utterly dependable (albeit grim)?

I think it's just my one. There is also an exhaust blow but the ticking type noise didn't used to be there.

Neither this or the Cadillac sold via their ebay auctions tonight.. I've done extensive googling on the rattle and the consensus is they all do that m8. That doesn't sound right as it was super quiet before I went to buy that light bulb.

I'll double double check the oil tomorrow but it's not leaking any and it's not been driven enough to burn any off.

My 6ft 6 Brother in law who I work with's BMW had it's windscreen smashed by something that flicked up off the road. He wants a lift in this week but I may off him the Panda just for the hilarity of seeing him in it.

On the plus sides my Cortina is making progress. Rust based welding finished, seat mounts built up and fitted then hand brake and bushes done. I've made up some hefty re-enforcements for the chassis rails I'm going to weld on so I can jack it off the rails. The rails at the front aren't rotten but are a little bit soft and out of shape because of previous inconsiderate jacking (some by me).

Looking back at it the patches on the floor aren't great. They're okay for an mot but once I get some $$$ I might keep an eye out for some floor pans I can fit properly at a later date.

I'm starting to think the Fire engine was an instruction rather than a designation

My 100hp actually made a noise not too dissimilar to this. I didn't notice it on the test drive, thought I may have heard it once or twice over the next few days after getting it home, but then it started doing it on every cold start or when it had been switched off for a bit. It wasn't as bad as yours, though the video may make it sound worse. I've got a video of it somewhere if you're interested...

I had already agreed a sale on the car, and in the end knocked some money off. I'm fairly sure it was just hydraulic tappets, if I'd been keeping the car I wouldn't have done anything about it.

Might be worth trying a bottle of Wynns hydraulic valve treatment, can't hurt.

It's been silent as a fish all the time I've had it. I left it idling for 10 minutes and it sounded like this!

It's currently slightly irrelevant  as the gear linkage has now broken.

Ive had similar issues to this.  My theory is that once you decide to sell a car: IT FUCKING KNOWS. And it starts trying to ruin your life like a lunatic spurned lover.

Apparently the injectors do tick and you can hear that but this sounds more metallic .

I would take it for a test drive but you know first is now 4th or something
