I could potentially stretch my budget, but sadly not my driveway.

Driveway?  Bloody southern softie!  Some of us don't have a driveway at all!

HOW MUCH? It's not even a RWD one FFS! And it looks like it's been dragged out of a landfill site.

It's worth $50 tops.

How about a Chrysler 5th Avenue? (AKA bling Dodge Diplomat). All the plush velour you could ever want.

That red Caddy is nice but about double the price it should be.  I could make an allowance for 12 months ticket, but not by that much!

It is quite blebby in places.

In plain English, I need something that's more shite. For me to hoon around in. No considerations as to its practicality,

This should be sufficient, especially as it is almost 19 ft long and has a 7.0 liter V8.

It also qualifies for "do not paint" status too, which is another bonus.

That Caddy has been on my radar for a while. RHD is just delightfully wrong, innitt?

Jeezers, I just realised that the deadline I set myself is approaching in two days time...

That is lush indeed.

Ideal for replacing the 405 estate, but that'd be nixed by the Junkwoman.

Not a suitable replacement for a late P6 V8, though.

That is so bloody watchlisted now, hardly anything ever was watchlisted to this degree.

In fact, it managed to kick quite some other shite off my watchlist.

Is it really shonky enough?

I think it probably is, the only complication I can see is its only in Leeds, which makes for a poor cullexionfred.

Battery and a prebooked MOT FTW.

I mean, it hasn't run in years and they allegedly haven't even attempted to start it, WCPCR?

Close to homeness and potentional NGWness would indeed make for a piss poor collection thread.

Are those still being pulled over by default when they are occupied by four gents?

I suppose your famed hatred of motorways might make it a bit more interesting.

To proceed from Leeds to Stockport without using the motorway one simply* goes from Leeds through;

Birstall, Batley, Heckmondwike, Mirfield, Huddersfield, Honley, Thongsbridge, Holmfirfth, Holmbridge, Holme, Holme Moss, Woodhead, Crowden, Tintwistle, Hollingworth, Mottram-in-Longendale, the outskirts of Hyde, Woodley, Bredbury, then into Stockport.

Other routes are available, of course.

Right.

It looks like some deal, the shadyness of which shall not be underestimated, is crystallising out of the ether.

Surrendering my Rover is one component of it, if an agreement can be reached.

Amazingly, the potential newcomer to the Junkfleet has found me and not me it.

Note: No internettage was involved (save for some email forthage and backage), so said potential newcomer

cannot be found in the realms of the Weird World Web.

The car will arrive from an island west of England on Sunday, so the heroic part of the collection is sadly not

going to be done by me, although the deadline I set myself would be met.

However, the location of the potential deal strikeage will not be at the Junktowers, so at least the thrill of having

to drive my Rover somewhere persists.

Gosh, this is one of the daftest shitest things I ever did.

I bet all this is going to grenade spectacularly.

Barry Island is west of England, so is it Dave's Bus from Gavin and Stacey?

Posted

There aren't that many islands East of England, now that I think of it.

The thing with islands is, that despite they seem very far away, actual miles driven by a car coming from one are not that many.

Key West is some distance away, but has potential to yield high-milers.......
