Junkman Posted January 29, 2017 Author Posted January 29, 2017 Due to the total unacceptability of new newfangled tosh, the GGG uses France's network OuiCar for chod hiring purposes.Hence we managed to book some slightly older newfangled tosh to get us going over there. Some would say it's even bordering shite. CGSB, Rave, forddeliveryboy and 9 others 12

Rave Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 We landed at Nantes a couple of years ago after an old feller on our Easyjet flight to Gatwick had a stroke. We were over Jersey at the time so I'm not quite sure why they didn't just head on to Southampton, but anyway. There's some sort of fighter jet parked off to one side (Mirage?) , and we saw a Boeing 717 from the only operator of them in Europe. /random richardthestag and Coprolalia 2

Junkman Posted January 29, 2017 Author Posted January 29, 2017 That's hitherto beyond the scallop height of the information available to me.But I couldn't care less in the face of having won this year's hire shite competition by a lightyear or three. They_all_do_that_sir 1
Brodders Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Is there a version of that in the UK? I would love to be able to go around in something interesting for two weeks whilst I wait for the head gasket to be replaced in the Rover.
Brodders Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Sorry, I meant the hire company/website where you can hire something which is slightly older and interesting than the usual selection you get at most rental places. I wouldn't mind a go in a Twingo though, I can imagine it is quite a laugh to drive.
Junkman Posted January 29, 2017 Author Posted January 29, 2017 Oh...There is Easy Car Club in the UK...But the prices are like hiring a Rolls Royce Phantom with chauffeur elsewhere.
Cleon-Fonte Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Why is this country so shit? Over here you'd be lumbered with a diesel Ford Focus or nothing, and if you don't like it you can pay the 'I don't like it surcharge' of £450 as laid out in section 35, subsection 280 of the rental agreement. Can you tell I'm bitter about car hire firms yet? Junkman and chodweaver 2
loserone Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I'd forgotten about ouicar, but this timely reminder has allowed me to look into what's available for our family jaunt in the summer. For the same price as a new Golf-sized car from Avis, we could rent a twelve year old Picasso. Or a track-orientated M5 for the same each day as the entire holiday will cost for four adults. I'm really looking forward to tpicking up this picasso!
Rave Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 A former colleague of mine rents out some old Ford Fusions on Easy Car Club and Ridelink. Probably not what you were after! Junkman and Cleon-Fonte 2

pshome Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Looks like they are only selling part of the property, so for 148000 euro's you could live next door. Price just dropped to 128000... Junkman 1
Junkman Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 They are selling the spare parts business.
eddyramrod Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 GGG are buying the spare parts business.EFA
Junkman Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 You grossly overestimate the financial capabilities of the GGG.
panhard65 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 They are selling the spare parts business.I think it is the swingers side of the business thats being sold off as the domain name is up for grabs. Also the decor in the house for sale looks more gentlemens club than family home. Maybe Marina has finally realised she is too old to stand around with her baps out trying to flog old motors.

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Well. We have discovered why Hertz and Avis are more successful than some guy with a 20 year old Twingo. 20 year old Twingos break down. We loitered in a cafe for an hour waiting for the owner to show up until he emailed us at 4pm to say the car wouldn't start and despite our interest in finding out what was wrong with it, he apologised and said no car for us. So we traipsed all over Nantes looking for another rental car. Sorry. Not least because it was four times the cost of the Twingo! chodweaver and garethj 2
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 It's a Peugeot Golf. That's actually how the rental company staffer described it. Skizzer, Junkman, Dave_Q and 3 others 6

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Non. We are in France right now. Redon to be precise.
