I've seen something cheaper, more economical and probably less sensible, so it's now time to put some serious* effort* into selling the Spanish Rocket.

As cliched as it may sound, I really shouldn't be selling this car, as it does everything I need, and does it well. But then, when did we become reasonable and sensible about cars?

So, the details.....

51 reg Leon Cupra. 180bhp 20 valve turbo

Six speed manual box

Climate control (re-gassed, nice and cold and with undamaged control panel)

4x electric windows

Electric folding mirrors

Black cloth trim with no holes and only the slightest of bolster wear.

It's just ready for turning over 160k, but don't let that put you off. It drives really well, and certainly doesn't feel like an abused car.

It has a Kenwood CD/radio fitted, but I also have a standard unit, which needs de-coding. I bought this to see if it would work with the factory CD changer that is in the glovebox.

Niggles

Some front bottom scratched it whilst it was parked up. It's gone through the lacquer, but might buff back to be at least a bit less visible. I've tried to get a picture of it.

The brake pad warning light is on, but there is loads left on the front pads, and I only replaced the rears in the summer. I think it might be because the front pads don't have wear sensors, but I could be wrong.

One side of the rear seat doesn't fold forward.

And that's all I can think of.

So, all in all, it's a decent modern-ish, fast and well equipped chariot, that should see you right for a while to come. Or you could go pineapple and rape it for the oily bits for a Golf project!

It's in Westhoughton, just outside Bolton. Postcode BL5, nearest rail station is Daisy Hill. Can collect from station no bother.

Price? £750 ish.

Pics ahoy......

Savage value. Cannot afford, alas.

Bargain. I like these - handsome, swift, practical, reasonably comfy. Lovely colour too. Usual excuses apply though, soz.

Mrs TW had a Mk1 Leon a while back. Great car, and everything about it was mk1 Audi A3 - dash, suspension, switchgear etc. Really well put together cars, and darn good VFM.

As an aside, you appear to have water ingress in your 306.

Mine was a great mile muncher (once all the terminal faults had been sorted). They're one of the best VAG cars of the era in my opinion, so much better all round than a Golf. Half the price, better trimmed and equipped, look nicer.

I was given a boggo 1.6 with 150k on it as a courtesy car by my garage earlier in the week, it appeared to be an entirely acceptable motorcar so I'm sure this 1.8T is a hoot. GLWTS.
