Renault 25 MONACO, pre face-lift and preferably manual!

Hi folks,

I have been after one of these ever since seeing one rusting down a side street in Huddersfield, and up for sale for £400 back in 2006! Well no licence back then, so a no go, but I live in hope that it's still alive and will come back on the market someday! There is just something amazingly swish about the Monaco interior, and I have held off buying many other tempting (and cheap!) R25s in the hope that I will someday get the chance again!

I really do want a pre facelift one though, they are 10x better looking, especially at the rear. I would actually like an automatic, but the auto boxes on these were famously crap, so a manual would be more practical ideally!

Anybody know of a 25 Monaco anywhere? Any suggestions gratefully received!

I passed one last week whilst on a job. I think it was Lochgelly, pre facelift in brown. I'll try to find it again and get a pic. Any other Fifers seen it?

Well cheers for that - if it's all the way up in Fife, it explains why I've never yet seen it!

If you type "Die you yuppie bastards die" into youtube you get:

Personally, I quite like the 25.

The ads, well, they're of their time I suppose.

There is a non Monaco one on eBay at the moment, but no good if you are set on the Monaco version.

I disdained those ads at the time, and they haven't improved with age.  What a pair of smuggoes.

'Joanne there's something you ought to know,

I'm shagging John, trading in this pile of shit for a Kraut box and you're a cunt'.

Did we ever establish if "Renault build a better car" was an advertising slogan or a request?

I've mentioned before, my brother had a very rough 25 that grenaded itself.

As he day at the side of the road waiting for the AA and contemplating his impending poverty, the cars talking dash

spouted endless warnings.

OIL TEMPERATURE HIGH

WATER TEMPERATURE HIGH

OIL PRESSURE LOW

WATER LEVEL LOW

BATTERY LOW

BONNET OPEN

DOOR OPEN

OIL LEVEL LOW

and so on and so on and so on regardless of how much he shouted back at it.
