It took me about three days to work this one out, again it's two pictures of the same car. Spoiler alert- if you click through the answer is in the description.

Simca Aronde, I'd say, mostly from the tail light. Struggling with the other one though.

It's a Lucas part, so my guess is Ford Corsair. No idea on the other, the light aperture suggests something like a Cresta but that doesn't tally with the bumper.

I once identified a pieces of a Hillman Hunter (well Rootes Arrow model) from the air vent on the C pillar so I have form in this sort of thing.

EDIT: no - engine bay's all wrong, from the shape of the bulkhead, the pushrod engine and the wheel I'd change my answer to a late Series Minx.

Mk3 Zephyr/Zodiac*, if that tail light used to be attached.

* maybe...  ;-)

Why were the French able to afford stainless bumpers even on pretty humble cars when even our more pricey snob-tastic conveyences used chrome-plated rusting stuff?

The French didn't have to hand in their stainless steel pans to make Spitfires like we did, so they had a surplus after the war.

So, is there a search on for the serial Renault 8 dumper to see how many more he has got left to scatter about the countryside?

My old stamping ground of Merthyr Tydfil in S.wales has loads of this kind of stuff hiding. There are many disused railway embankments/tunnels and places to dispose of your no longer wanted/not actually yours motor vehicle..

There is a tunnel full of 80s era burnt out joyride victims, whilst the remains of cwm colliery (which is well off the beaten track in the middle of a forest) turned up what looked like a mk1 escort in still vibrant orange, sadly probably been there since the 70s and almost unrecognisable.

The 'Miler' tunnel, walked it a few times.

There's a few more in there, including both an Astra and Fiesta if my memory is correct.
