Anyone had a 307 1.6 Pez?

1.6 pez is at least fairly safe, but they're pretty underwhelming machines. My father-in-law and his partner seem very fond of the 307 SW - they've had two. Quite a few random meltdowns with the first one though.

Good engine that requires thrashing to get the best from it all boxed up in a truely crap car devoid of any soul or personality.

There are a lot of them around for sub 306 money and there is a bloody good reason for it.

My brother had a 307 estate as a company steed from 2004-06. He still wakes up in the night screaming.

Sister in law had one. Had no trouble except for the obligatory impossible to find used indicators went wrong.

I sold the hatchback version recently and it was actually a really nice car.

Our daily is a 307 1.6hdi sport (me neither) which the Internet tells me should have grenaded a long time ago. It's on 112k and still going strong.

I have to say it drives well, has plenty of shove and handles quite well. There are a few corners round here you can throw it into pretty hard and it doesn't get into a mess, though steering can be a bit vague.

It's had a few minor French moments, sometimes the water temperature gauge decides to go through the ceiling and the STOP OMG lights come on.....ignition off and on and temperature back to normal. Only does this once in a blue moon.

Dash display likes randomly telling me things like auto lights activated, auto locking activated etc etc. Just ignore it.

Front springs and suspension components seem fragile but there are exactly one million speed bumps between our house and anywhere else in our town, which my wife seems to ignore so I'm not blaming the car.

Long story short I quite like it. However.

My mate has a 1.6 pez and it's horrific. Windows that go down by themselves, doors that won't lock, erratic instrument cluster, list goes on. He hates it with a passion. The engine in his has never ftp though.....

My mother gave me her low mileage 1.6 S a couple of years ago and I ran it for 6 months.

It was pretty much immaculate and had been well cared for.

It drove really nicely. As mentioned above it had to be worked pretty hard to get it moving quickly. Handling was ok. Not as nice as earlier Peugeots but good ride and lift off oversteer could be induced. Steering and gearbox very light.

In the number of years my Mother had it she only had one significant bill involving disks and a wheel bearing.

Not all that great on fuel if I remember correctly though.

When it came to selling it I wanted to keep it and get rid of my wife's newer fancier Civic as I thought the 307 was a nicer car. I didn't win that discussion.
