garbaldy Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 I wish I had £1200.So do I but then I would just go and spend it on more stuff I don't need. Jim Bell 1
Guest Hooli Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 So do I but then I would just go and spend it on more stuff I don't need. Yeah, I'd waste it on a RR Classic.
Jim Bell Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Yeah, I'd invest it wisely on a RR Classic.Efa. I cant remember the last time I saw one this good, this cheap. Biggest bargain of 2017 thus far. Craig the Princess, richardthestag and red5 3
HillmanImp Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 I have £1,200 and I am having impure thoughts about this but I am desperately trying to stop myself buying more cars and am instead saving my money to mend the ones I already have. Crazy idea I know. This is what happens when I don't drink enough alcohol. HMC 1

Junkman Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Hmmmm... How difficult can it be to replace that abysmal tugboat anchor with something acceptable? richardthestag 1
garbaldy Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Hmmmm... How difficult can it be to replace that abysmal tugboat anchor with something acceptable? Not at all bad if you are any good at electricity transport. Junkman 1
garbaldy Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 One last pic of the fine old steed,And the original interior back in the back so it looks like she's definitely off to pastures new. HillmanImp, AMC Rebel and Junkman 3
garbaldy Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Is it going to a shitter or a civilian? It has gone as in just driven away to a shitter. Jim Bell, Junkman and richardthestag 3
garbaldy Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Since John is now home safe and sound I can now add this pic. I decided to sell this on a wim and as it took ages to sell the last time I stuck it up with no real need to sell, big mistake as I had more interested parties than I ever imagined, a deal was done and lightening fast collection agreed plus I broke my payment by electric airwaves virginity, So here's the happy victim I mean new owner as he set of on his long way down, So it's back in Enlandshire and I will miss the old gal for sure,This now sticks me with a bit of a dilemma I have a spare insurance policy that I don't want to cancel before finding something else. AMC Rebel Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Gr7 seller wld deal againe etc Was really nice of him to take that broken x-box for it as well. I dithered last time this was for sale so decided not to this time. Also - I spend a lot of time moaning about trains, but they were perfect this time and a bargain too. cort16 1
Guest Hooli Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Lucky shit, I'd love that thing even with a boot anchor in place of an engine.
AMC Rebel Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 It runs well - I always liked those 200/300 TDIs - just clever enough to be good, but simple enough to stay reliable. Jim Bell 1
garbaldy Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Was really nice of him to take that broken x-box for it as well. I got the last laugh as it was just a broken wire it now works fine.So anyone want an x box full working order a bargain at £1200 will take part ex. Jim Bell 1

garbaldy Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 /\ it would be if it wasn't a classic policy.
AMC Rebel Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Hmmmm... How difficult can it be to replace that abysmal tugboat anchor with something acceptable? Not at all bad if you are any good at electricity transport.IMG_20170107_110628905.jpg Been giving this some thought. Nowt wrong with the Diesel motor - but a pez v8 would be rock. Trouble is, Rover v8s seem to be expensive for anything any good. Also I'd need to put back a lot of electronic wizardry. "No problem" I thought - how about a crate 350 Chevy and make a sort of Overfinch - but then I realised that due to the age it is it probably needs the Cats in the exhausts and I dunno how easy that is to do. Also I have serious doubts that the various transmission bits could cope with the power - and then it all starts to look expensive. I'd love to put it back to entirely factory spec but I fear the time/budget won't allow. It's a lot of fun to drive though and I will soon use up my 5k miles allowance on the classic policy (ftps permitting of course) - so far only the fan belt has dropped off and since that was outside my Ma's and I could easily fetch another car I don't really count it.
andy18s Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Hows about a Cummins 6bt treansplant....theres a few guys offering bolt on kits to suit the BW transfer box AMC Rebel 1
AMC Rebel Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I think the torque from that would finish off what's left of the transfer box. Anyway, if I'm having diesel I'll stick with this 200 TDI - it's just if I was going back to pez. Would quite like to get the aircon back too - but I think that may be a vain hope. It looks like a serious system though.
garbaldy Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 If that engine bay loom is the only thing chopped and an engine was sourced with full loom then it shouldn't be that bad, apart from the noise the auld gal drives okay really. And on a lighter note you have just reminded me that I still have this insured 😚 best get my arse in gear and find a replacement.
AMC Rebel Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 If that engine bay loom is the only thing chopped Based on the rest of the wiring I'm betting it isn't I did marvel at the apparently random switch in the cubby box thinking "what hacker put that there?" until I did some reading and found it's the factory fitted switch to disable the air suspension. Thinking about it, there would be work to do on the fuel tank too - no doubt the EFi V8 has an in-tank pump.
AMC Rebel Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Then again, this came up on an e-bay search - too far away, but they are still out there I guess - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-V8-3-9-EFI-Engine-Kit-car-TVR-etc-/272561307501
