Six-cylinder Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 I didn't get much sleep with all the thunder and lightning- woken up at 11.30, 1, 2 and 3.30! Non of that here, you should have slept in our field! When I got up just before 7am it was raining and continued to do so light and heavy until 2pm, now it is getting dark but is dry and 15 deg C.
Stanky Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Emergency box and towrope and crate of homebrew installed in the Nissan, coolant topped up, oil to be checked first thing and then I aim to be there for about 1pm. looking forward to meeting you Mr Cylinder Six-cylinder 1

Six-cylinder Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 If you promise it's dry I'll put both toolboxes and the boilersuit in the merc and will be up midmorning. I only work under instruction mind! There is a Herald Convertible with a rear brake stuck on. A Herald saloon that needs a hand repaint. A Spitfire MK3 with a six cylinder engine that needs starting The heater controls on my 2CV are stuck on hot And enough jobs to keep everybody busy for a year, but only if you feel like it you could always just drink tea!
richardmorris Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I can sort out 2cv heater controls ok (usually). Raining here now! See you shortly.
Six-cylinder Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 I can sort out 2cv heater controls ok (usually). That is good because 1st class 2CV travel also has stuck heater controls for the last 2 weeks.
Six-cylinder Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 I am now leaving for the field so I will only check AS occasionally. Still dry 14 deg C no wind.
AnthonyG Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Can't make it today but should be up tomorrow if people will be about.

Six-cylinder Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 Here we go, another great day with the help from the team. When I started getting stuff ready to take, I filled the C15 van and the thought was - was it worth it? GoGently beavered away at the bonnet on the Herald, rubbing it down and painting it. It is a shame he did not put up a sign saying no insects to land here! Richard Morris worked away on first my 2CV to make the heat controls work and then my 1st class travel 2CV! Tiddly truck proved difficult. Its clutch was stuck and when freed, the C15 just could not tow start it, so we had to bring out the big guns! Tea was drunk. Quicksilver Senior worked tirelessly, first on Tiddly truck and then the scythe of death. And a new get away driver was interviewed for our next bank heist! It was worth it and here is my day in pictures. Mally, johngarty, Stanky and 12 others 15
Stanky Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Just got back - was a good day and nice to meet some new shiters too. Thanks for having me Six-Cylinder! And thanks for letting me have a go in the digger too. I'm really pleased with that pic of the Nissan too - it looks very 'publicity shot' richardmorris 1

richardmorris Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Hi 6cylinder, Starting a list of things for the 2cv http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/fitting-hang-torpedo-silencer-from-floor-p-942.html http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/filter-complete-with-foam-clamp-foam-plastic-bodied-filter-p-1150.html Oh, and I meant to say to let me know when you get a new roof and I'll be happy to come up and play with it.
GoGently Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Thanky for the hospitality . Will return the code reader sometime in the week when it's stopped the Cittys manopause fit
Six-cylinder Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 Today started with Quicksilver Senior checking the magneto for Tiddly truck and declaring the main winding a dead short, so that will need to go to a specialist. Next the main aim of the day was to make the Triumph Spitfire MK3 with a 2.5 six cylinder engine run. I have owned the car over 3 years and it was non running when I bought it. I had been told it was running 3 years before I got it and there was nothing wrong with it. Quicksilver Senior led the Spitfire project; he checked it was not seized, but the distributor and carbs were all furred up with no spark or fuel. He carefully took everything apart and cleaned it, found the immobilizer that was killing the ignition circuit, worked out the firing order and the engine burst into life. What a moment! My friend who found the car for me could not believe I had found people who were prepared to do all this work on it. The fuel tank had stale fuel and water in it, so we ran it from a can and the tank is now out for me to clean. We could not try to move the car because the clutch master cylinder is seized, so that is the next job. While the Spitfire was under way, Chodweaver worked on getting the green and white Herald pushable so we could get the Alfa Giulietta out ready for bodywork in a few weeks. One Herald wheel had to be changed and the other three just needed air, but I found the nearside front outrigger needs replacing, so that has slowed that project. The Alfa also turned out to have one wheel that would not pump up and we did not have a spare, so Chodweaver and AnthonyG removed a wheel, to have a new tyre put on it. The Rover 114 GSi got exercised round the field, along with test driving of the Visa Twin and Diesel and more S1 Sovereign action - JAG! BLAG! SWAG! SLAG! FAG! LAG! Visiting stars today were a Maxi, Chrysler Grand Voyager and Jaguar XKF. AnthonyG gave me some car pictures to look at and Mrs 6C caught me with the one from Playboy 1978! Again, many thanks to everybody who came over today. richardmorris, holbeck, RobT and 13 others 16
richardmorris Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Wow, progress and a half. Call me stupid, but given the choice I'd take the Daimler over the new jaaag. I've spent a bit of today looking up heater controls for visas. As yet no luck in finding out anything useful. But I will keep searching! Six-cylinder 1
