British Motor Museum visit with bonus car show photos

I've been itching to go to the new revamped Motor museum at Gaydon for a while now and today the opportunity came up to go and visit the place with "Oldford" in his beautiful Mk5 Cortina as part of a Facebook group display called "Enthusiasts of British motor vehicles built before 1985", a nice short catchy name 'm sure you agree...

We had very pleasant 170 mile drive to Gaydon in probably the quietest, smoothest Mk5 Cortina you'll every come across.

These were some of the cars on the FB stand.

Does that hearse have upside down Volvo 240 rear lights?

I did get rather excited by this Bluebird Estate that later turned out to belong to a volunteer of the museum.

So much coolness in one post, I don't know where to start.

That P5b camper makes me want to sell my house and live in it like slightly more genteel Max and Paddy.

I want that Granny hearse for my funeral, I'm willing to tailor my demise around its availability.

My dad had a company Consul 2.5 the same colour as the wing on the Mk1 Ghia.

As for the Cortinas, the Crusader just looks perfect and as having two immaculate Mk3 GT s in one place.

I know we have had lots of photos of inside the museum over the years but just for the sake off it, heres some more, this is from inside the old main building.

I always find it fascinating to see the cars in the flesh that I grew up reading about in magazines, apologies for no clever comments and just photos but I'm tired and can't be arsed!

Considering how bad the lighting can be i don't think the photos came out too bad tbh, now we are onto the new building, It wasn't until the 45min - hour of the day that we realised that it was part of the same place, it's not exactly well signposted from the outside, this was the building that housed all the rpoper shite though, my kind of place!.

Downstairs was allocated to Jaguar.

Err... yeah, that was all the photos i took downstairs, we was very short on time and they didn't interest me quite as much as upstairs...

Now, it's at this point i have to add there wasn't much room so photos were a bit tight and it was busy, they is also a lot of Land Rovers upstairs.

Some excellent pictures! I thought people had said the museum was a bit poo but it looks amazing!

Why isn't there a place like this for Ford or Vauxhall or all the other car companies?

Excellent stuff Trig, looks like it's well worth a visit.

I love that mk1 Granny though! And the Cortina's.

Sadly I don't think Ford are all that bothered about thier heritage. Even getting genuine parts for old stuff is getting hard now.

Though oddly Ford USA still make loads of stuff for thier old models. I've had loads of genuine bits for my Mercury, yet over here I can't hardly get anything for my Fords.

I think they're missing a trick tbh, imagine how much money they could make by producing parts again for their old models. Especially genuine panels! I'd gladly pay for them.

Great pics. My old man had a Strada. The booted Metro was weird to say the least.
