A160 LWB Auto with Lamella sunroof - project or parts? eBay, £10 start...

Okay, I have mentioned this beast before, but sod it. Before I strip it for parts/scrap it, which I really cannot be arsed with at all, does anyone want it?

2001 Mercedes A160 LWB, auto (proper auto and it was working, and still seems to be), 113,000 miles or so, hasn't been on the road for a year.

Problems:

Main one - ABS reluctor ring snapped on OSF driveshaft. Driveshaft and suspension bolts are manky as hell. Broken reluctor ring means no ABS means limp home mode - 30mph.

Little ones - timing chain is a little noisy, MAF needs cleaning occasionally, dashboard has missing LCD segments, few surface rust spots around the body, past welding on subframe, needs tyres and now it'll need a good service.

Missing - battery, I pinched it for the Beetle.

Good things:

Few owners (Jen had it from 2008 to now IIRC), gearbox does work, lamella sunroof works, half leather interior, started first time when the battery was connected, brakes work, radius arms weren't knackered, windows work, has both sets of keys, isn't absolutely minging inside (though the dash pod cover is off because I wanted a bulb for testing something).

It'll drive onto a trailer, and probably break for double or worth fixing if you actually care about replacing the driveshaft.

It's a sort of mid blue-green colour.

A field near Lutterworth :D

Literally, J20 M1 and a handful of miles.

Moog, if you get this, you MUST bring it to Crail.

Thanks Richard - Was a passing thought but too far away to realistically be worth doing.

Hi there Richard, This could have my name on it just looking into trailer prices or delivery. (And how bad the E38 fails its MOT tomorrow)

Cheers

I thought A160 LWB was the reg and that you were an advertising numpty.

Anyone fancy delivering it to Cheltenham for me? (or know if the limp mode can be fucked off somehow!)

Total cost £9.95 (assuming you already have breakdown cover)

Don't care how it goes, as long as it goes. Open to offers on it, really.

Never before has a car had so much theoretical interest when mentioned, then no progress... Anyone? Call it £100?

I know we spoke about this before. How quickly do you need it moved, and can anyone lend me a trailer :-D

ASAFP but mostly I just want a commitment that it's going, you know? :)

For those who might have interest a reluctor ring is about 13 quid. Feck knows how to fit or sort out.

You get a driveshaft for about... er... £30? or was it £60. Anyway, the bit the ring goes on needs cleanup, it broke because of dirt and surface rust on the driveshaft, so just gluing a new one on wasn't an option - otherwise, I'd have done that :) I figured the time to cleanup was worth the extra to get a driveshaft.

If it were a bit (a lot) nearerer I would have bought it and asked my mechanic mate to sort it out. Looks smart and seems quite roomy!

90 odd mile at 30mph going for a pre-booked MOT might be stretching things a little too far :(
