1k small car needed, down south

I can't believe I'm asking this, but I'm under orders.

 

Young son (31!) has asked mummy for help replacing his car. His Saab 900 2 litre soft op is too expensive for his impoverished circumstances.

 

I am therefore ordered to find something frugal, modern(ish), fun-ish( for a non car person) and able to fit an oversize lummock in, comfortably.

 

Budget is a max of £1k, plus the Saab if you want it?

 

So, if you've something that fits the criteria, give me a shout.

I had an AX I'm 6" 4 fitted no probs I wasn't fat though.....pedals a bit close for my size 11s.
