Bren Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 The skirts and spoiler have arrived for my A6 - the spoiler arrived from Latvia more quickly than the skirts which came from north of the border. All the items look like fibreglass - there is no provision for them to be fixed with screws. What adhesives to bodyshops use now? I don't want to book the car in for the bodyshop to later tell me they cannot fit the items. Tiger seal? Or is there now better stuff?

New POD Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Sikaflex or Tigerseal I "remanufactured" my exhaust rubbers on the BINI with the former. In my defence it is all fail safe and I just cut an old MX5 rubber into 2 and forced it into the central hole and used silkaflex (from screw fix) to hold it in place. If you look at the MOT history of our BINI the previous owner had to replace them, and I'd already done the job once myself, so I wasn't going to not bodge it. It's amazing stuff. Stayed in my hair for weeks.
rrsix Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Sikaflex 221 is good stuff. We use it at work to bond all sorts of metal and plastics together for external vandal proof displays.
Split_Pin Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Tigerseal or Sikaflex. In my experience a few formal fixings are a good idea as well though.
DSdriver Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 If using Sikaflex you need to make sure you get the right one for the job cos there's lots of different numbers. Check out their website and ring their tech info line if in doubt.Your body shop should know what to use if they are up to scratch, they must be doing this sort of thing every day.

forddeliveryboy Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I'd use PU sealant. About £6 quid for a tube, a little goes a long way.
