Looks like a thirty to forty minute job doesn't it..........

Ah, ok. Yep, it can be a bit of a weak spot there.

Looks solid enough to me!

No sign of the new brake shoes yet, if they don't arrive today I won't be able to get the car in for retest before Monday and will have to use Saturday for doing the work so no Shitefest :-(

C'mon post persons, get a wiggle on!

I have steam coming out of my ears at the moment. I will post up their info later so you can all avoid but the arseholes on eBay sent me a message to say the order has been cancelled, not a couple of hours after but three days. Utter utter twats. There is no chance of me making Shitefest now and I will have to bite the bullet and pay nearly three times as much to get them from rimmers overnight. Then hope nothing else is wrong of I will have to pay another full test fee.

Not happy.

To be fair, they have really shit feedback.

That must be hugely frustrating! No-one going past that you could cadge a lift from?

Posted

Most of the North Britain shiters will be passing, but I think the problem is that the Shitefest time will be needed for working on the car.

Yup, Richards got it bang on. I decided to stuff it and carry on regardless so thought I would make a start only to find the solenoid has now died. It turned over but didn't start (very unusual) then nothing but a loud click, bridging the terminals spins the motor so need a solenoid as well :-(

Thanks mate, I have left Mick Dolphin a message (why didn't I think of him first!), just wondering why it wouldn't start this time as it normally goes first turn of the key.

If anyone can get them to you there will be a couple of brochures, a spare set of headlights and an alternator at shitefest.

What a bastard, i ordered mine of ebay for £10.99 and they came the following day. Have you tried Mevspares?. They are shared with other models so you probably find your local motor factors keep them.

Bub is picking some bits up for me so as long as he is happy to take them that would be superb mate, PM me your address and I will get that cable in the post to you.

Thanks for that, the 1300 is different to the bigger ones and mine has manual adjusters so just trying to track down the exact ones. I think they are GBS815 but would be grateful of confirmation from someone in the know.

This is being irritating now, if I bridge the terminals it spins perfectly but won't fire. It was starting on the button two days ago and now won't even fire. Fuel is ok but don't have enough hands to check if it's sparking at the moment.

Is Triumph. They do this kind of thing for fun.

I have left it now, it's making life hard and it's been one of those weeks where nothing has gone right from the welder to the non starting. But shit happens and it will get sorted one way or another.

Wtf? Last night, a million electrical gremlins, this morning - back to normal. No idea what is going on, some weird things like last night I had no fuel gauge, this morning fine again. Ran rough for a while but back to purring this afternoon. If it had rained heavily I would have suspected water getting in somewhere but it has been dry bar the odd shower. Brake shoes sorted so will be on it tomorrow morning.

You KNOW the reason for this.

is it the above reason by any chance :-)

I may be thinking bollocks, but isn't one of the small wires to the solenoid tied in to the coil? I remember a random fault with my Spitfire where it would cut out and it ended up being a dodgy terminal on the solenoid.

Thanks for the heads up, I need to concentrate on the MoT stuff tomorrow but will then go in search of the Gremlins so any pointers as to likely suspects are most welcome. For the moment it's behaving itself but you bet they will return when I am sat in dark corner of nowhere in the middle of the night with a ferry to catch.

See, dodgy terminal/connection. Told you it's a Triumph thing lol.

In case anyone was wondering why I stopped last night before it got dark -

Woo hoo! Several hours of brake fiddling paid off (some of it in the rain :-( )and we have a pass! It was 26% but pulled the car off the rollers so all good. Still having electrical gremlins though so will need to sort those before any longer distance trips.

Ace news mate! Well done!

Not so ace news. I had to retire early as I was starting to feel shite, am now short of breath and absolutely drained. Fuck this health shit! As a result, I didn't get the chance to hand your stuff over to Bub, or anyone else. I will post what I can but you'll have to pick up the rest when you come down for da wheelz. Sorry mate :(

No worries mate, your health is far more important. Hope you feel better soon mate, we can sort out meeting up in a few weeks. I have been promising to bring the nipper down to London for a while so may combine that with a stop at your place perhaps.

It's been a frustrating afternoon as not managed to get anything done, got all the stuff out ready a couple of times only for it to heave it down. I got soaked doing the brakes this morning so can't be bothered with that game again.
