It's not exotic, or even rare, but it is the best 4x4 by far and yet not a Land Rover. What would an Australian buy to explore the outback and live to tell the tale?

Met Gill the seller at airport. Electronic transfer of many of your English pounds and we're heading north on the A1. Winna winna steak dinner. Petrol station shot with BMW R100RS as a wee bonus. Just over took a boat being towed by a MG Metro!

Hame via A7. Fueled up at Edinborough and feck me - thing returned 30mpg and that was sitting at a steady 65/70 which is its happy speed. Zero issues to report other than the cd player doesn't work. Was at Galashields before we noticed that or I'd have returned it.

 

It's been with the same owner since 2006 and within the last two years had a replacement clutch and the timing belt done and also recently benefited from having four General Grabber tyres fitted. Just turned 115k and ready for a trip to the Moon, tomorrow. 

 

No offence to any Land Rover owners, but this is in a different league. And I haven't even been near any mud yet!

Epic day, my eyes have been opened and the future is pickup shaped. It shits on all other fake pickups.

Nowt wrong with a Hilux, I've an irrational affection for a pickup having owned Bravas, B2500 Mazdas and P100s over the years as they are just so bloody useful, though you do seem to get used as a general removal bod by friends and family when you have one.

Cheers. On the road it's really good to drive, very little roll in the corners surprisingly, not that it's a sports pickup or anything. It does look down on just about everything else on the road which is also nice. The ride in the back is bit drafty though.
