Have I been stitched up by tyre shop?

I bought a pair of tyres for the front of Thunderbird 2 our XM estate. The bloke in the tyre shop showed me the tyres in the rack and they had a A rating for Rolling resistance and B for wet grip on the sticker so I bought them on the strength of that.

Today I check the invoice and it says they are E rated for rolling resistance. So which is correct before I go in all guns blazing? They are Membat Passion 205/60R15. :)

Same tyre brand+"models" in different sizes and rating have different characteristics.

Bastards. I shall return this afternoon with threats of having been mis-sold

The tyre ratings are a load of bollocks anyway, other than the db reading.

It seems the labels have done absolutely fuck all in helping people choose what tyre to buy. I will not be going back to that company who's name begins with J... and ends in ust Tyres. The bloke there who assured me he was area manager was a really dodgy character. I feel sorry for the fitters who have to put up with his verbal bollox all day.

Membat ? went for the premium option then !  :-D

Well the car only does a couple of thousand miles a year, the others weren't down on tread but the side walls were looking like a creek bed in a drought. So I suppose the fact that these Membats are made of cheese on the tyre wear scale isn't really an issue. At over £150 for the pair they weren't exactly cheep.

Membat? Umm sounds... Shit. For £150 you could have had some mid ranges at least for that money some Avons or Kumhos.

Sounds like a crock of bollocks to me, I wouldn't worry about it. I've never given the slightest thought to rolling resistance of a tyre. If its bothering you just up the pressure by 2psi or summert.

I get very confused now that tyres aren't named after bridges on race tracks. They all sound like cheep foreign rubbish and I was relying on the new labeling to point me in the direction of a tyre that sticks like shit to a blanket round corners in the rain and never wears out. No chance of that when they just swap the labels around.

To be honest they sound like ditch finders anyway, I would have bought some online https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres-205-60-15/ a set of Falken Ziex ZE914 are only £45 each delivered, then find a garage who will fit them for you.

I tried that last time when I replaced the rears and Black Circles sent me to a garage who didn't do the wheel nuts up so that I ended up having to change a hub. Me buying tyres is fraught with misery.

That can be a down full, I always spend ages googling for the best deal then get them delivered to my home and then use a garage around the corner to fit them for me at £10 a tyres.

Hows this for bollocks. I spotted that two tyres on my Volvo were getting near done t'other day. So, I went online and bought a new pair, £75. They arrived yesterday so I strapped em on the trailer so I could get em fitted in France before trailering the Seat home. Then when I was filling it up with diesel I had a look and spotted that they were 60 profile and the OSR one on the car was 65 profile. WTF??? Then I went round and saw that the car has 3 x 65 profile and 1 x 60 profile. Obv I had looked at the 60 profile tyre on the car, before buying replacements. I know I could put the 60's on and it would be ok and legal, but its not right is it. Fuggin annoying. I looked at tyreleaders returns policy and predictably its £25/item return shipping cost so I'm stuck with em I suppose. Anyone want 2 x bargain 195/60 15 Nexens?

I had that on the zx first MOT it had. Id not looked closely at them, other than 'their there' and my mate pointed it out on the front axle.

Said he would pass it, but please get it changed quick. Went to the part worn place on the way home and got 2 better same size tyres fitted.

Mr Bol: If you do decide to run with them is your preferred style to have them bigger tyres on the back axle for dragster appeal or on the front for the pineapple brigades dragging it's arse look? :)

I think id put the 60's on the front so as not to affect the speedometer

I adopt a similar process, I find the cheapest tyres of a make that I have heard of before. Then when they arrive I fit them myself. I also operate a warranty period which is long enough for me to get them from the tyre machine to the car.
