Sounds a better idea than "Young Sherlock Holmes".

Well spotted Pog, I'd noticed the 6 but missed the walk-thru hidden away in the background. They are a beast of a van those things. So horrible to drive that they're actually great fun.

I'm sure Mash will join me in appreciating the 140J wheel covers fitted to the Marina van.Serious wheels and tyres on the Celica found by Seth. Sufficient to warrant a set of arch flares. Bet the steering was a bit heavy...

Am I right in thinking the train station & photo with bus heading to bus station is Sheffield?

Posted

The bus is Sheffield, the train station is some London one.

Posted

Liverpool street. I've spent some time knocking big holes in that place. Fun!

Hirst, I think there's a niche in children's books to be filled!

Hey up Father T is that Fleetwood by any chance? Last time I was there they looked pretty much like that.

Yup - the Mount in Flotweed - I spent my day in the CMHT about 200 yards away from it.

Oh wowzers - I just found some pics of my home town of Beverley form the 80s :shock::shock:

Shit, I could have walked past this scene when I was 10.

Look there's a Mazda 818 too

Dammit Hirst, got me trawling Flickr now!

Fuck me  Armstong Shock Absorbers offices! I never thought I'd see this scene again. I used to leapfrog those bollards as kid. I literally have tears in my eyes. You silly old sod!

Posted Image

Fucking hell I remember that Scimitar too. Shiiiiit.

Fabulous memories.

Shite overload!!!

Shit the bed  ZOMG!!!!111!! etc

This is Armstrong Massey's, the BL dealership in Beverley before it was bulldozed for a supermarket and they moved to another part of the town. Another scene that I thought was merely consigned to the darkest corners of my memory but here it is in glorious technicolour exactly as I recall it complete with the small Rolls Royce showroom and Clock Garage (Renault) a few doors down. The old guy there had a T-reg R16 well into the 90s.

As you can tell I'm a little excited by these finds.

OMG PONIES!!

:P

OMG Tredia turbo as well?

Love the shots of Beverley (I was born in the Westwood hospital...) Like the lone Rolls Royce signage too. I thought 'Young Sherlock Holmes ' was a great movie when I saw it as a kid. Clockwise was great too.

This is essentially what I end up doing for ages at a time, I'll search for something like "Doncaster 1978" then "Doncaster 1979" and keep going through for ages until I find something to my liking.Generally you'll stumble upon some bus-spotter collection, these tend to be very good for street shots.

That's not a real old days shot! That was posted up by someone on OJC in full colour when he got it some months back. Very cheeky.

Not necessarily, we have a Mk1 transit that's not been on the road since 1973. If you can find it on the DVLA computer it could be in somebody's lock up somewhere. Slim chance I know, but it's not truly dead and gone till you can't find it on the DVLA computer or by putting it through a basic HPI check, to see if the number has been re used as a private plate.
